A BRISBANE woman has had more than $150,000 taken from her bank account by the Federal Government in the latest example of savers suffering under recent legislative changes.

Financial planner and accountant Margaret Franklin was "shocked and angry beyond belief" when she found $157,644 had been handed to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission due to new legislation which defines the period of inactivity before money is considered "unclaimed" as three years.

ASIC holds the money before passing it to the Commonwealth of Australia Consolidated Revenue Fund.

Labor are desperately trying to conceal their squandering and thievery..., now imagine ...whilst this woman can claim her money back, (after enduring a lengthy bureaucratic and time consuming process) ...what if she had deceased?
What if family were unaware this account of hers even existed?

I liken this to grave robbery, pre- grave robbery at the very least, because it's hoped that those they are stealing from had either forgotten about their inactive accounts, (what if they were suffering with dementia? had acquired a head injury since they opened their accounts...etc) or have since deceased.

There are plenty of unused accounts out there that have become the property of Labors Consolidated Revenue Fund.

If Rudd made these changes too public, then relatives and the public at large might just enquire after their own disused accounts and demand their money be returned to their accounts, this opposed to remaining the property of Labors Consolidated Revenue Fund.

Labor will do anything to conceal their squandering, even if this means regressing to grave robbery.

The Courier-Mail reported that a pensioner had survived major heart surgery, only to find more than $22,000 had been shifted to ASIC by his bank, Suncorp, which later paid back the cash out of its own coffers.

Ms Franklin claims to have received just one letter from Adelaide Bank warning her of the changes, but says she was out of the office studying.

My having worked with aged and vulnerable people, I have witnessed first hand how many of them forget to empty their letter-boxes for weeks, months on end, much less would be capable of challenging these new laws and contacting those who stole from them.

This is exactly what Labor is counting on to restore a surplus they squandered.

Deceased, aged and vulnerable people not claiming the money a Labor government stole from their disused accounts.
