Abbott to Axe Climate Change Commission bureaucracy

Post by mellie » Thu Apr 04, 2013 8:20 pm

A COALITION government would dismantle the climate change bureaucracy and put commissioners including Tim Flannery out of a job, Tony Abbott predicted yesterday as a report painted a gloomy picture of the future.

The Opposition Leader, who vows to remove the carbon tax if elected in September, said there would be no further need for the bureaucracy that supports it.

"When the carbon tax goes all of those bureaucracies will go and I think you'll find that particular position you're referring to will go with them," Mr Abbott said.

Mr Abbott will consider dumping the Howard government's renewable energy target, which he says is "significantly increasing the cost of power".

Speaking to Sky News last night, he equivocated on his previous support for the scheme, which aims to ensure 20 per cent of electricity comes from renewable sources by 2020. "There is going to be a serious review of this, should there be a change of government," he said. "We'll wait for the review before deciding what we do, but I take your point that renewable energy is increasing the price of power."

Well, that's feasible, in light of new information concerning the questionable validity of numerous Climate studies, which are themselves, under review as their authors come forward and admit they cooked..(ahem, overstated) the figures.

A preliminary draft of a report by the U.N’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was leaked to the public earlier this month and now climate change skeptics are arguing it shows evidence of 20 years of global warming overestimation.

Someone involved with the U.N.’s IPCC review process reportedly leaked the draft and made it available for download online. The report shows that each of the four temperature models the U.N. body has published since 1990 has overestimated the rise in temperature on planet Earth. The report wasn’t actually supposed to be released until 2014.

“Temperatures have not risen nearly as much as almost all of the climate models predicted,” Roy Spencer, a climatologist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, told FoxNews.com.

“Their predictions have largely failed, four times in a row… what that means is that it’s time for them to re-evaluate,” he added.

More from Fox News.com:

Now, as for Tonys threat to axe the bureaucracy that supports a carbon tax, The Climate Change Commission, you can't really blame him, as the CCC seem to have given themselves an extended Xmas holiday, and have not updated their sites "coming events" pages for ...hmmm, lets see now, 3 months , and appear more interested in using the Climate Change Comission web site as a non-government organisation partner web-portal to advertise sites such as .......

If the Climate Change Commission is so active, and is working so hard for the climatic salvation of all man kind, then where the fuck are they, and why have they seemingly forgotten to return after the Xmas break?

They are too busy sitting in an expensive building on expensive chair sipping expensive coffee.
And they are being overpaid to do it.

Abbott is a braggart and a fool. How much support will he get for his climate change denial when the national and international community is trying to adapt?

Let's hope he keeps talking rubbish. He'll hang himself with his own rope. :thumb

Mantra, in light of the sheer quantity of once deemed authoritative, credible climatologists coming forward, bringing with them their cooked-reports (to justify a global environmental tax) .... the skeptics are now in fact those who actually still believe in global warming... not those who don't.

8-) Sorry, but their days of falsifying data are over, because if this report was leaked from the UN...can you image what will leak from our very own institutes here in Australia as soon as Labor gets the boot?

Their scientists will no longer have a reason to lie, or publish false/exaggerated findings because the pressure for funding wont be on them to tell lies the way it was with Labor, who were and still are funding them to support their carbon-tax propaganda.

Hacker from Canberra replied in the Age this morning...
I'm confused - hasn't the carbon tax stopped global warming in it's tracks ?
:rofl

As you can see.... theres an evident climate of change, with respects to public opinion concerning Global Warming, and it's for the better.

8-) A change of climate for the better me thinks.

I know there were some falsifications which stuffed up the validity of some of the climate scientists pronouncements - but the fraud has come from both sides of the fence. The truth is somewhere in between.

The fact is weather patterns are changing quicker than they have before and much of this is caused through increasing atmospheric temperature. The deniers could have gotten away with their brand of truth if we had only gone by ground temperature caused through human habitation, but let's be realistic. Look at the ground, sea and air traffic now and the burgeoning population polluting this planet. It is a cause for concern. I'm not sure whether the carbon tax is actually going to help reduce this traffic to any great degree, but a tax does encourage the average person to try and reduce their footprint.

Every little bit helps.

If there was ever a dept of propaganda within a thriving democracy, a climate change dept is a prime example.

The Global Warming scam aside, I still think conservation and clean renewable energy should be a priority for any incoming government, due to coal reserves depleting, not to mention the toxic assault on our environment and therefor our people, we really do reap what we sow.

It makes perfect economic sense to develop cleaner more sustainable and cost efficient sources of energy and invest in science and the development of new technology to make this happen, but we need to advance economically responsibly, and sustainably, not due to UN pressure and fear of our world coming to an end if we don't.

We should be developing our own energy-smart (I hate the term Green now) technology here in Australia, not purchasing from UN declared Green-Tech Superpowers who are enjoying the global proceeds of ours, and other nations wealth ..barking orders with their clenched fists filled with our nations carbon-tax revenue the UN use to fund g-ds 'chosen' people and select others of strategic importance to sell out-dated technology developed by our nations own scientist we could be developing and producing ourselves here in Australia for a tenth of the price.

China is our largest trade partner, if they dropped off the face of the earth tomorrow, or were unable to trade with us, how would this impact on our economy, lifestyle... standard of living?

We are insulting our Chinese trade partners by arriving on their doorstep under the guise of talking trade...when we really want to deliver an errand from the UN, re- North Korea...and how we think they should be managing the situation differently.

It's not the first time Gillards offended nations running errands.... sounding what she'd have them believe is her own advice.
