Despairing ALP supporters...
If there was a split in the ALP and a new party was formed that housed the likes of Rudd, Crean, Ferguson, Carr, Jenkins etc would you
1. Be more inclined to vote for the new party over the union and faction dominated ALP?
2. Throw more support at the ALP because you think the deadwood has been removed?
How would a new DLP make you feel?

The DLP already exists.
So they'd have to call it something else.
If they formed a conservative ALP I'd be much more inclined to vote for it that the "new" so called progressive party the ALP. It would give the conservatives in the old ALP somewhere to go now that they are being ignored.
Rudd wouldn't make me feel inclined to vote for them though.

Labor MPs dumps the ALP branding in campaign material

POLITICIANS are prowling for votes in their electorates in the lead-up to the federal election, but good luck finding the word "Labor" in the campaign material of senior Government figures.
Labor party branding is conspicuously absent from double-sided pamphlet distributed by Federal Minister for Schools Peter Garrett this week.

Former minister for Tertiary Education Chris Bowen, who resigned from Cabinet after the failed leadership saga, last week tweeted himself campaigning in his electorate of McMahon with a bright orange sign without Labor branding.
"Everyone knows that I’m a Labor member of parliament," Mr Bowen told The Australian newspaper.
The federal Labor party is facing an uphill battle at the federal election, which will be held on September 14.
According to Newspoll, Labor's primary vote slumped five points to a disastrous 30 per cent after the leadership spill that wasn't a fortnight ago.

It was a figure of speech in calling it the "New" DLP considering that there is nothing democratic about the old ALP with their factional block voting

Poor old Crean. He has been a try-hard for decades. Ferguson always looks like a Union Boss, a complete face lift wouldn't change that fact. Bob Carr? Hate the man.IQS.RLOW wrote:If there was a split in the ALP and a new party was formed that housed the likes of Rudd, Crean, Ferguson, Carr, Jenkins etc would you

Aussie, Monk, Mantra, Skip, Boxy, et al will still vote ALP ....... I will still vote Liberal, or not at all ... depending whether there is a Liberal candidate in my Electorate.
The Greens tried hard to become the left wing of the Left, Left Wing of the ALP. They have failed, completely. Who needs another "independent" branch of the Labor Party?
Case concluded!

Not Bob Carr...Kim Carr- just one of the many ex-ALP ministers who think Gillard sucks arse.
I think it is a real possibility unless they all just decide to hang on till the death knell and then watch the blood letting after Sept 14. Trouble is that all that will happen is that the factions will regroup and the next wave of union patsys will advance up the Labor ranks until the next generation of kids who forgot or never knew how crap they were will give them another shot and they will mightily fuck the country once again.

One only has to take a quick look at Monk's Twitterblog to see how the Labor lot are coping.
Carr ... Kim, Bob or Mary .... jerks, all of them.
