The Coalition decimated our dairy industry when they deregulated it. Not content with destroying the AWB's reputation during the scandal in 2005, they are now going to finish the Australian wheat industry off completely by attempting again to deregulate it.

TONY Abbott says he is confident that no Coalition MP will cross the floor on wheat deregulation amid calls for the issue to be revisited when parliament returns tomorrow.

The Opposition Leader said there were still “big issues” to be resolved before the sector could be fully deregulated including quality control, market information and access to ports.

“I accept that this is a difficult issue and I accept that there are strong feelings on both sides of this particular issue,” Mr Abbott said.

“But look, we've made a judgment call and I am confident that we'll stick with the judgment call that is made.”
