No More NBN

Post by Bart » Fri Sep 21, 2012 1:18 pm

The NBN hasn't been included in Wayne Swan's 2012-13 budget.
Why?
Has it been scrapped?
Nooo as Swan and the red dog are still spending on it.
But don't tell anyone that it's not in the budget.
Guess the NBN is all being supplied free by generous workers and electrical companies.
The $40billion NBN has it's own category, but viola like a Penny Wong... poof it's gone! :yahoo :yahoo :yahoo

It should be included in the budget - but it wouldn't look too good for the gov. if it was. Where are they going to find the money to pay for it? I don't think they've figured that out yet.

The $40b NBN has beern excluded from the budget that way the budget was in surplus, but that only fooled the nuff nuffs :thumb

That's why they set it up as a commercial company. It's like Enron, there are clever ways to play with the balancesheet that are not allowed in corporate accounting anymore that Governments don't have to comply with.

The budget is not a balancesheet. It's more of a cashflow forecast statement.

The NBN is a government program, fundered by the government and excluded from the budget

It also means that they can hide the real capex and opex.

With it already blownout by 3% and dickhead Conroy raging that "3% isn't a blowout" you will see that this piece of shit NBN will go down as the most expensive white elephant in history.

The world is moving to wireless and that's where the tech and backbone will focus on a worldwide basis. Every company wants a solution that has a single infrastructure servicing multiple clients.
Wireless offers this and with the advent of smart phones and tablets, no one wants to be tethered to a cable or wifi network especially when the 4G wireless is already offering 20MB+ download.
Of course you have fuckwits like Monk reading from the ALP spin sheet about contention and uploads and 'oh they will need billions of towers' but everyone knows it is just ALP spin...you only have to look at how far we have come in a relatively short space of time from 14.4k-56k-1.5M-7.6M-24M <---- all on the same copper network mind you, and 100MB+ on cable and now we are hitting 40MB+ on wireless without spending a cent of taxpayers money.

For $50BN+ we will have a guaranteed 12/1 MBs in 10-20 years.

Imagine if the govt said back in the late 1990s that they were going to create a new modem company to go from 14.4k baud because 56k was the future? Look how many Aussie modem companies are still around...

The govt is investing in a delivery method that will be completely obsolete and it is why most telecoms have steered away from it, Especially in geographic areas like AU. It's not because Telstra is the debil, it's because the tech changes so quickly.

Make no mistake, the advent of mobile tech with enough grunt to run most applications, improving battery life, small form factor, mobility and most importantly the ability for a telco to sevice many from a single point of upgradable infrastructure will ensure that the NBN will be as obsolete as sure as 56k modems are

As expected Monk dribbles but offers up nothing more than labfanboi crap without taking into account advances in tech or what the real world is doing

Here's Verizon in the US who have a SHITLOAD more users than AU
30MB/s down- 14MB/s up and not a cent of taxpayers money spent

Verizon will cover 260M people compared to AU which in 20 years will only need to cover 35M people

Keep swallowing Conroys load monkey boy

Why the LNP’s FTTN is a non-starter:

Copper is rotten, cabinets housing nodes require a lot of power, Telstra will charge an arm and a leg for use of the copper.

Thought I’d summarise the loooong article for the rightwhingers here, none of whom are blessed with brains.
