NSW Labor being put through the wringer by ICAC, possibly for the next 5 months, 3 Premiers, several Ministers and their mates.
Bob Carr .... spending Australian Taxpayer's money to have his Asian wife, decked out in Designer clothes, etc and travelling First Class around the Globe. Can't he go a week without? Or is his right hand arthritic like Monk's? :f
I agree with you on this Neferti. It is disgusting. Carr and his wife have no children and are very wealthy, but are still happy to rip off taxpayers to fund their luxury semi-retirement which is how they look at this position. Carr is not doing anything positive for this country.

It is unbelievable that Gillard just handed Carr the Foreign Minister-ship. Us Taxpayers are paying for his fun and games and travel extravaganza. I can't stand the look of the man, sneaky and creepy looking. He may be well off these days but geeze, it is ALL taxpayers dollars that got him there. Typical ALP though. :D

Forget policy, personality politics drives a US-style presidential race here
November 6, 2012
Daniel Flitton
Senior Correspondent

LABOR wants to make the next election a presidential choice, American style - Julia Gillard, the commander-in-chief, versus the challenger, Tony Abbott. Forget policies, this is about personality.

As Barack Obama squares off against Mitt Romney across the Pacific overnight, Australian politicos have watched and learned. Reducing the contest to a simple equation focuses voter's minds: largely brush aside the party differences, so the thinking goes, and make it a contest about who should be in charge. People might not much like Gillard, but asked to choose Abbott instead, enough doubt creeps in. You mean enough mud has been slung...

It is a small window to prise open and escape a burning building, but Labor's presidential strategy is clearly thought to be the best hope to cling to office.

The relentless exploitation of Abbott's character is intended to amplify the choice - sexist, hothead, stuck in the past.
Unpopular though Gillard may be, in this battle she has a powerful advantage only properly deployed in recent months - as Prime Minister, her words are naturally delivered by loud hailer. She sets the agenda, the media follow. The challenger is left to respond on terms set by the incumbent. Yes this is the propaganda...

Senior members of PM's office have developed ties with the Obama campaign team and are watching for lessons to apply in Australia. Ben Hubbard, Gillard's chief of staff, slipped out of the country in September to attend the Democratic convention in North Carolina and talk strategies with those running a $1 billion campaign for the White House. This followed an encounter in Chicago in May, when Gillard attended NATO talks on Afghanistan, and her team took time behind the scenes at Obama's re-election HQ.

I've never trusted Carr. And said so prior to his election as NSW Premier.
I'm not in the least surprised he's still scamming his way through politics.
You should have seen what he did to NSW.

Meanwhile former Qld Premier Peter Beattie is hiding out in the US collecting 200K a year at Qlders expence, under the guise of promoting Qld.

I suspect Carr intends to do a Gareth Evens, and seek a cushy position at the UN post politics.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

I lived in Sydney for 15 years, so I did "know" the place. Carr always looked sneaky to me. He still does. .... I was busy doing other stuff there so can't recall who/what the State Government was at the time.

Beattie of the huge grin and bad teeth and blond hair? Is he really in the US?

State politics really doesn't interest me that much. Federal Politics doesn't either for that matter. Once they are ensconced, you couldn't pry them open without Legal Action!

However ......... Julia's Days are Numbered.

No he ain't, Rambo.

From Wiki:
In late May 2010 Beattie announced that he was retiring early from his position as Queensland's Los Angeles-based trade and investment commissioner.[9] In June 2010 it was announced that he had accepted a position with Clemson University in South Carolina.[10] On 24 August 2011, the Gillard Government appointed Beattie as Australia's first Resources Sector Supplier Envoy charged with promoting a Buy Australian at Home and Abroad program for supplying products to the Australian resources industry.

Yet another policy that prove Labor to be clueless and incompetent.

Mandatory web filter 'would never have worked'

LABOR was forced to abandon its promised mandatory internet filter because it would never have worked and would not have passed through parliament, the Coalition and the Greens said yesterday.
