He just seems to be being treated like every other celebrity, to me.

US admits: We've got no evidence on Julian Assange

WIKILEAKS founder Julian Assange has slipped from the reach of US investigators, according to an American news report.

Authorities had been unable to link the WikiLeaks founder to Bradley Manning, the army private jailed for passing confidential information to the whistleblowing website, NBC News said yesterday.

IQ

The stuff he published was already known by other governments and anyone who wanted to know.

I think there is a place in the world for a function that Wikileaks provides. They need to get better at protecting the forces on the ground by removing information that give military advantage that put individula at a greater risk.

As a citizen of the world I am sick of government bullshit and i shudder when I hear the US going in to "protect their interests".

What are their interests... money... oil... business.....

It has nothing to do with making the world a better/safer place.

Julia shouldn't have come out blazing all barrels claiming illegality.

It was a hack performance by a hack PM and she should be humiliated for it. I would see if suing her would be an option if it were me

But former members of the organization have criticized his supposedly autocratic leadership style. “I am the heart and soul of this organization, its founder, philosopher, original coder, organizer, financier and all the rest. If you have a problem with me, piss off,” Assange famously wrote to one internal critic.

Now a group of former WikiLeaks activists are planning to launch a whistleblowing platform of their own in mid-December, according to a report in the Wednesday edition of the German newspaper Die Tageszeitung. The group stresses that the as-yet-unnamed platform should not be seen as a competitor to WikiLeaks but as a different approach, the newspaper wrote.

“As many people as possible should have access to as many documents as possible,” the former Germany spokesman for WikiLeaks, Daniel Domscheit-Berg, told the newspaper.

Domscheit-Berg criticized WikiLeaks for concentrating on publishing material about the US while other information was neglected. “There was a lack of transparency about how decisions had been reached,” he told the newspaper. “That’s why I trust this organization as little as I would trust another organization with similar problems.”
I hear that they are going to be releasing information without first vetting it (as wikileaks seems to do for information that may put individuals in danger), but rather relying on the media to do that work. They're just going to be a middleman, taking from leakers, and simply handing it over to the media.
