Well good luck with all that then Despite IQ's drivelous accusations of envy, sky-high property prices have little effect on me personally since I bought when prices were reasonable. In a town with a high concentration of high income resource sector workers, people are often surprised to find that a household of more modest income doesn't have that much less disposable income than they do, despite their very large pay packets. The reason - very much more of their income is eaten up in repayments on huge mortgages.

My concern is for future generations, including those struggling now. Affordability is an increasingly serious issue.

But then there are those insidious types who cross their fingers and secretly hope for a collapse to happen because their ideology tells them that they'd rather see capitalism falter and human suffering rather than admit to being wrong

Those "insidious types" who cheer for ever surging prices from the current levels probably haven't thought too much about the term "fallacy of composition" - the idea that if something works well for an individual, then it must logically work well if ALL individuals engage in it. "Shit in your own nest" might be another way of putting it. If prices do collapse, it won't be because of any Getup! campaign, it will have been because too many people simply got too greedy.

Oh well, these things happen I guess.
