MORE than 550 would-be asylum-seekers have been stopped from getting on boats in Indonesia since the federal election as a result of cooperation with Jakarta.

Australian Federal Police chief commissioner Tony Negus said three “high-value targets” had been arrested in Indonesia, and a warrant issued for a people-smuggling kingpin.

News of the operations follows Tony Abbott's trip to Jakarta last week, where he toned down his rhetoric on turning back asylum boats and expressed Australia's “total respect” for Indonesia's sovereignty.

Mr Negus, who returned from Jakarta this morning with Operation Sovereign Borders acting commander Air Marshal Mark Binskin, said the AFP was working closely with its Indonesian counterpart to hunt down people-smugglers.

“During the last few weeks, since the 8th of September specifically, there have been 17 disruptions in Indonesia, where over 550 passengers have been stopped getting onto boats. That's a result of the cooperative relationship between the AFP, other agencies here in Australia, and the Indonesian National Police,” he said.
Just think how much money we could have saved without you fucking numpties cheering on the party of hacks and ho hopers. :roll

You lefties are a bunch of fucking retards who don't deserve to breathe.
Seriously.
And your brain isn't fully functioning. Do you think the Indonesians are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts? Did they happily agree to get stuck with all these asylum seekers for nothing?

This is going to cost us big time - along with maintaining the Nauru and PNG processing centres. What do you think the Indonesians want out of this? Whatever it is - it won't be cheap.

Howard tried this trick last time by funding more camps in Indonesia and it came to nothing. They took the money and ran.

What has Abbott bribed them with? After the Indonesians have got what they want - it will be back to the smuggling business as usual.

Abbott doesn't talk. He's gagged his ministers and no-one knows what he's up to. Already he is more unpopular than Rudd and Gillard combined.

It will cost is far less than supporting the 55000 illegal immigrants that Rudd and Gillard let into the country.

Go sob in the leftard corner with the rest of the loser. No real Australian wants to listen to you lot any more. You are irrelevant.

It's no surprise you support a thief. As more of Abbott's rorting and secret deals are brought into the open - the more trouble you're going to have defending him.

You mean like Wayne Swan taking a private jet for his family to the Grnad finals?
Gillard taking the jet to attend a staffers wedding?

Your hypocrisy know no bounds, does it Moantra.

So with Abbott it's do as I say not as I do? He condemned and vilified any Labor member who didn't follow the rules - yet Abbott has turned out to be the biggest crook of them all.

Are his hobbies and social events which the taxpayer has been subsidising for years while he was in opposition - more superior to any of Labor's rorts?

Abbott is a hypocrite of the highest order. First to point the finger while his other fingers are in our wallets.

He is a common thief.

I didn't defend any of Labor's crimes and I'm certainly not going to defend the Coalition's either who as it's turning out are far worse in comparison especially when they're coming from a bloke who calls himself honest.

Under the rules he is using an entitlement as has Labor.

Suck it up princess. Your big kerfuffle is but a storm in a teacup that will be forgotten soon enough. You should save your outrage for the next small banana you can bounce up and down screeching over.

Maybe you should start up another topic seeing as your outrage meter has overwhelmed your comprehension?

This thread is about how the coalition is stopping boats within 3 weeks that an ALP govt couldn't do in 6 years.

In one month, the coalition has managed to do what the ALP and the rest of the leftwing bullshit artists said couldn't be done.

In one month, the coalition has done what the ALP couldn't do after 6 years in government.

Boats arrivals are now at 10% of the worst that the ALP foisted on us.

The ALP should be prosecuted for damaging Australia's national interest and should have to pay back the billions of dollars they spent and wasted and provide compensation to the families that they callously drowned.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott says the arrival of asylum seekers by boat has dropped dramatically since the election of the coalition government.

But Mr Abbott says he's under no illusion that people smugglers will continue to test the commonwealth's resolve to stop the flow of boats.

The prime minister told the South Australian Liberal Party annual meeting in Adelaide on Saturday that in the month since the government was elected arrivals were running at just 10 per cent of the worst level under Labor.

'I don't pretend that the people smugglers won't test us,' Mr Abbott said.

'I don't say that there won't be worse months as well as better months in the time ahead.

'I don't pretend that the boats have already stopped.

'But I can say to you with great confidence, they are stopping, they are stopping and they will be stopped.'

Mr Abbott reaffirmed the new government's plan to accelerate free trade agreements with a number of countries.

He said those arrangements would be in the best interest of Australia and in the best interests of the nation's trading partners.

I hope this is true. I, for one, would like to be kept more fully abreast of what is going on with the boats on a more regular basis.
