Clearly this is not the case and evidencing of Gillards multitude of lies goes towards her credibility

A claim made by Gillard...and we all know that truth is not something that passes her lips. I doubt even Timmy wants his old fella passing those thin strips of rubberised meat

No. The party line at the time was an ETS, which Howard went into the 2007 election with. Abbott was disagreeing with Howard and saying that a carbon tax made more sense.Rorschach wrote:freediver wrote:Abbott actually promoted carbon pricing and a carbon tax quite heavily, right up until he became opposition leader. Abbott was merely pushing the Party line.

FD...
As Skippy has already pointed out.... Publicly Abbott was supporting the Party line.
Would you care to provide info where he made a stand against the party line and went to the back bench over it.
The only thing Abbott said publicly re a "price on carbon" was that a tax would be simpler.
Other than that, he acquiesced to the Party policy and FOLLOWED THE PARTY LINE.

No he wasn't. These were not private speeches. They were public speeches in which he argued that a carbon tax was better than the party policy of an ETS.

Re: Tony Abbott - an economic simpleton
Gee fd how did I know he said that if it was private.
There was no Abbott revolt... he followed the party line.
He didn't agitate for a Carbon Tax.
His reasoning was that a tax was simpler and more easily removed or amended. That does not mean he ever personally wanted one.
Gee do you think that might be why he has promised to remove it?
Are you trying to tell me he wanted a Carbon Tax over something the left keep telling me he considered and I quote... CRAP!

I did not say he was revolting. I said he was promoting a carbon tax as a better option. He would not have done that if he did not want it.Rorschach wrote:Gee fd how did I know he said that if it was private.![]()

He described the science as crap, but he seriously thought a carbon tax was a better option. He promoted it for several reasons, not just his doubts about the science.
You can read his words for yourself:

If you look at his more recent announcements, it appears that his direct action policy is only temporary. He has scheduled another backflip for 2015.
