My daughter spent her first 'entire' night in her cot, without her bumpers, and woke 4 times ... 11:30 pm..... 1am....2:30 am......6:00 am...... and finally she is now asleep. As she aught to be.

She's teething FYI.

However, now I have chores to do... so am feeling a bit lagged out.

Meth?

I wish, because then I might not feel as though I have been hit by a freight train.
A cup of strong coffee (I normally drink tea) will suffice, if you're making one IQ's ...thanks.

I often get by on 3 or 4 hours sleep - and less when I had babies.

If this media reform does get passed - it won't be reversed. Why would the Coalition bother when it will benefit them also?

I've been fairly tolerant until lately of the government, only for the fact that I believe the Coalition's policies are worse, but this gagging of the media is the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm not sure whether Gillard is stupid or dangerous - maybe both, but this will open the way for exploitation of Australians by both parties when they're in power.

What is this going to do to our children who are already controlled by social media? The government of the day will have a field day and eventually we'll end up with only one party and Gen X and Y will be at the mercy of dictators. This is scary stuff.

If Turnbull is talking about reversing it - then that indicates he believes it will get through. The Greens to date have not given their assent - hopefully they'll stay true to their word.

So far they are the only party that hasn't got a history of corruption. They've said no to media reform. Their policies are far from perfect, although Milne is making an effort to go more mainstream, but their policies are still preferable to many of those promoted by Labor and the Coalition.

Valid point, and I wouldn't trust Turnbull as far as I could spit.

If Abbott said it, re- reversing the reforms, then I might be tempted to consider it, but we are talking about Mr Turncoat here, not even Abbott trusts him.

And neither does his buddy Seven's commercial director, Bruce McWilliam.

I'm pretty sure it's a decoy Mantra, and that Labor wont be pushing too hard to get this thing passed, and while journalists are busy focusing on this and defending a perceived threat to their careers and civil liberties......they are not focusing on the new bills before parliament etc, etc.

They have have said yes to media reform as long as the ALP makes their policy worse.
They started this fiasco with Pirate Bobs "hate media" bullshit.

No one sane prefers the Greens to anything. They are the shit sandwich sitting in the middle of the table to keep the flies off everything else. Only a fool would chow down on that and call it Nutella

I hope you're right - although I don't like this rushing through bills in the dark of night. Howard did the very same thing in his last year of office.

My error. I hadn't read the update. They are trying to get it modified in order to ensure that the media conglomerate is split up and makes room for the independents.

It's not satisfactory, but there you go. I still don't agree with the general reform, although I do believe there should be more diversity in our media.

Greens will lose if the reform is passed.

Labor will blame their every policy failure and assorted other government failings on the Greens who will like the democrats be absorbed into a black void and cease to exist without the opportunity to tell their side of the story.

As we near an election, Labor will need a scape-goat, and it's true, the worst thing that could have happened is that Labor and the Greens formed a minority government, never mind the Tas bush fire's ... Labor are already rubbing this in their faces.
Feb 19, 2013 – GREENS Leader Christine Milne says Labor has effectively walked away from its minority government alliance with the Greens,
Ooops, now she's done it... left the door wide open for Labor to blame the Greens.

Afterall, the deal they made was with Brown....not Milne, so they don't see it as their shirking on a deal.

If these media reforms stick, then Greens have effectively signed their own death warrant, this and wont be able to defend themselves when it comes to fruition in a Labor censored media.

Labor will try to convince Greens otherwise, in order to gain support for their reforms, and some may even fall for it...but the bottom line is in doing so, they will be cutting their own throats.

I am not a fan of the Greens, but I don't believe their right to adequate media representation should be compromised by a corrupt and paranoid Gillard government, terrified of honest press.

Milne will have a tough time convincing some of her Red-Greens not to vote in favor of it though, because they unlike her are all about saving their own skins, not the Greens party itself.
