DNA tests confirmed Friday that the mystery blonde girl who was taken from a Roma couple caring for her in Greece is in fact of Roma descent, just not related to the family who raised her.

The 6- or 7-year old, named Maria, is the daughter of a Bulgarian Roma woman who gave the girl away because she was too poor to provide for her, the Associated Press reports.

The discovery is a vindication to many Roma after the high-profile case provoked prejudiced allegations of child-snatching.

The child was neither abducted nor was a victim of child trafficking, she was however a victim of our sensationalist predatory and racist western press and authorities.

DNA tests conclude little Maria was Roma with a Bulgarian mother afterall which affirms the couple they accused of abducing her's version of events re- how a little white Maria came to be in their dark-skinned Roma care.

Sadly, these revelations wont make headlines in the UK ...whereby the majority are still under the impression this child was like their "Maddie" and was most likely abducted or trafficked by evil Roma Gypsies.
