Cost of the whole NBN (incl new backhaul is $37Bn, 10% of one years spend
You can't be fucking serious, already they have overrun budget and under performed in relation to the NBN and the ALP budgeting is a fucking shambles.

These are the guys that turned a $1.1Bn surplus into a $19.4Bn deficit in 5 months...and you think they can keep a massive program like running fibre to every home at the original cost they proposed? At their current rate, the ALP NBN will cost us $17 trillion

No, internet fibre to the home is NOT symmetrically implemented. That's why you have different upload and download speeds. If it was symmetrical, they would be the same. Fibre between major backbone network elements could be.

Would you like a course to learn more.

Today's fast-converging protocols were designed for hierarchical topologies. To control the impact of routing overhead processing and bandwidth consumption, modular hierarchical topologies must be used with protocols designed with these controls in mind, such as EIGRP.

Route summarization is facilitated by hierarchical network design. Route summarization reduces the routing protocol overhead on links in the network and reduces routing protocol processing within the routers.

Hierarchical Network Design

As Figure 4-1 illustrates, a hierarchical network design has three layers:
•The core layer provides optimal transport between sites.
•The distribution layer provides policy-based connectivity.
•The access layer provides workgroup/user access to the network.

It can be made 100% symmetrical with an active FO network but 100:40 is way better than wireless or copper.

A high useless ratio is still a useless ratio

Fibre can be but is not. (to the home)

Copper can be but is not.

Your argument on this point is wrong. It is not the medium of the signal that creates the symmetry or not, it is the network design.

Oh noes! How will monk transmit his hip replacement x-ray from his living room...his brain scan will take double the time to upload so his itchy nuts might miss a scratch!

Woe betide us all!

He will have trouble transmitting it but no trouble receiving it. Symmetry.... :rofl

The above is Political discussion? Sounds more like the Vortex!

Copper cannot be made as symmetrical as fibre—VDSL takes so much frequency to download upload. Unless you use like 8 bonded, high quality pairs per premises and we rarely have one good quality pair here in Australia.
