SBS news.

A teenage girl from West Africa has been held in a Sydney home against her will and used as a sex slave for weeks before managing to escape.

Police are searching for a woman hailed as a Good Samaritan who found the 17-year-old after she escaped in the early hours from a Sydney home on April 27 and dropped her at an innerwest Asylum Seeker Centre.

The teen from Guinea says she arrived in Sydney in early April and was driven to a home believed to be in the city's metropolitan area - where she was kept in a room and sexually assaulted by a number of men.

The AFP's Human Trafficking Unit has been brought in to investigate along with the NSW Police's State Crime Command's Sex Crimes Squad.

The girl says in January she met a man in her home country who offered to bring her to Australia as his cleaner and in April they travelled together via Paris to Sydney.

It's believed the woman who rescued the teen is called Nicole and she drives a small red car, police said Friday.

The Daily Telegraph 10/11/14

• 38 family members claimed $2.1 million in Centrelink benefits
• One claimant paid almost $1 million into a bank account over 11 years
• Dept of Human Services investigators found a network of fake claims

THIRTY eight members of the same Western Sydney family fraudulently claimed more than $2 million in Disability Support Pension and other welfare payments.

One person claiming income support paid $300,000 off a mortgage in just over two years, while another claimed support despite earning an undeclared income from owning three properties. The web of family fraudsters was uncovered following a tip a dodgy Western Sydney businessman had failed to declare his income.

Department of Human Services investigators found a network of fake claims from the businessman and 37 of his family members and cut welfare payments to 19 people and referred five to the Director of Public Prosecutions. “From a single piece of information, the ¬department’s specialist fraud team uncovered a web of people dishonestly claiming payments,” Human Services Minister Senator Marise Payne said.
One claimant paid almost $1 million into a bank account over 11 years without ever ¬declaring any income.
Together the 38 family members claimed $2.1 million in Centrelink benefits, including Youth Allowance, Newstart, Carer Payment, Disability Support Pension and Parenting Payment.

In more than one instance people were falsely claiming the disability support pension while family members were claiming carers’ allowance for looking after them — even though in some cases they lived in another state.

“Cross-checking bank records with information from the Australian Federal Police, AUSTRAC and the NSW ¬Department of Fair Trading highlighted multiple properties owned by some of the individuals as well as large cash sums being deposited into bank ¬accounts,” Ms Payne said.
“Bank records revealed one individual deposited $750,000 in three years while claiming benefits. Another individual paid off $300,000 from a mortgage in just over two years while receiving income support. A third claimed rent assistance for a property they owned.”
One claimant paid almost $1 million into a bank account over 11 years without ever ¬declaring any income. The cash is believed to have come from undeclared business or employment earnings and no tax had been paid on it.

“As a result of the investigation nine people have to repay more than $50,000, including two people who tried to hide over $100,000,” Ms Payne said.

“Five people are also being referred to the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions for possible prosecution.”
Repayment orders have been made against the 38, ranging from $1000 to $137,000.
“This rort was a blatant abuse of the welfare system and an offence to hardworking Australians who expect their taxes to be spent helping those in need,” Ms Payne said.

Ms Payne said the investigation also highlighted the ¬important part tip-offs play in ensuring the integrity of the welfare system.

A young man has died after being stabbed in Sydney's inner-west.

Paramedics treated the 25-year-old at a unit block on Pyrmont Bridge Road, Camperdown, about 8pm Saturday.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition before dying from his stab wounds in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It's understood he was stabbed multiple times before his assailant fled.

Officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command established a crime scene and are searching for his killer.

A child has been removed from what Australian Federal Police say is a "harmful situation" and placed in the care of relatives, following the arrest of a 37-year-old Sydney man on child pornography charges.

Police would not say if the child was at the home at Marayong, in Sydney's west, when it was raided on Tuesday.

But they said material found under the search warrant was "among the worst we have seen in investigating this crime type".

"It will be alleged in court that police found material the man had produced with a child who is known to him," an AFP statement said.

"The efforts of everyone today have also helped us remove a child from harm, whose ongoing welfare will remain a high priority."

The 37-year-old man faced Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday charged with multiple counts of child sexual exploitation and possession of child abuse material.

Detective Sergeant Jarryd Dunbar said the man was the first person charged by the NSW Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team since new anti-child sexual exploitation laws came into effect on September 21.

He was arrested following a tip-off by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations involving two Australians in NSW.

The Aboriginal community has met and lived for millenia in what is now Sydney’s Redfern district.
But as young urbanites move in and drive up property prices, their chances of remaining rest on an empty hectare of land.

Known simply as The Block, the plot is owned by the Aboriginal Housing Company and was home to a slum,
which was demolished when the previous indigenous housing project became a den of drugs and crime.

Police are in attendance after reports of a man being shot several times in Sydney's west.

The reported shooting is believed to have taken place near Barber Avenue in Penrith about 3.30pm.

Early reports indicate the victim, aged in his early 30s, was shot from a moving car.

He was flown to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

A NSW Police spokesperson has confirmed officers are attending and had established a crime scene but have no further details.

Barber Avenue, which is adjacent to the Nepean Hospital, has been closed to traffic.

Minor car accident in Sydney yesterday.

Muzzos involved

Fighting ensued, well yelling, screaming and posturing.
They are too cowardly to actually fight, unless there are 10 of them to one victim.

Quite funny to watch on TV posturing and stamping toward each other, only to turn and walk away before making contact.
Or pretending to want to attack, but being held back by tents who let go and are then allowed to grab hold again before the posturing starts again.

What a joke the cult of death is.

A Sydney man arrested over alleged terror offences allegedly swore allegiance to Islamic State.

The 21-year-old Riverwood man was arrested and his family home raided on Wednesday morning by the Australian Federal Police and NSW Police Joint Counter-Terrorism Team.

It's alleged the man, an Australian citizen, created and posted extremist material on social media and attempted to influence teenagers as young as 17 to engage in politically motivated violence.

Police allege the man encouraged teenagers to pledge allegiance to ISIS, with most of his alleged activities occurring online.

He's also accused of swearing allegiance to ISIS and downloading a document of weapons and tactics that it's alleged could be used to facilitate a terror attack.

AFP Assistant Commissioner Ian McCartney said there was no imminent threat but police decided to act early.

McCartney said the arrest is not connected to last week's London terror attack but was a factor taken into consideration prior to his arrest.

"This problem is not going away," McCartney said at Wednesday's media conference.

"This is not about religion. This is about criminality. This is about violent extremism."

McCartney added the 21 year old has a connection to individuals previously arrested over terror charges.
