First of all, this thread is supposed to be about Islam, named the "religion of pieces of human flesh" after the bombers and machete welding extremists have done their deeds, shouting "God is great."
Like Rorsch, I am not a Muslim hater either and know several Americanized Muslims in my own town, who have adapted somewhat to the modern way of life, and have been friendly and polite.
But I find real danger in their holy book, the Qu'ran. I find the danger in the religion itself.
Yes, those verses Rorsch has posted here are in the Qu'ran. I have read them in an English translation, online.
They are not made up by the media, they are part of the original Qu'ran from the time of the prophet Muhammad. When Muhammad claimed to have had repeated visions from an angel over many years, he told his kinsmen what the angel had to say, and those who could write Arabic jotted notes on scraps.
In the century after Muhammad died in 632 AD, those early notes were compliled into the text that became the Qu'ran. Those verses have been included ever since then.
And yes, modern Muslims do read the Qu'ran daily, and at the mosque their Imams do teach from the Qu'ran and other writings based on the visions of Muhammad (Sirra, Sunnah, Hadiths).

What a pathetic display of thread hijacking and hypocrisy. It's pretty sad that pertinent topics cannot be discussed without hysterical chants of “bigot”, “hater”, “racist” by those who openly spew their hate about Abbot, Christians, Jews etc in the same breath/thread.
I, too, have Muslim friends. One of which was a spokesperson for Gayoom's ruling party. My youngest son has Muslim friends. Do I hate them? No! I do, however, hate the ideology of Islam and how societal changes are being forced on the west for fear we may 'insult' their sensibilities. Any normal person would.
As Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has said many times ""There is no moderate or immoderate Islam; Islam is Islam."

I have no problem with independent women... unlike Muslims.
I have no problem with people who are gay.
I have no doubt the globe warms and cools.
None of this has anything to do with my religion.
What about paedophiles? The Catholic church has a huge problem in regard to molesting and seducing children - something that isn't so prevalent in modern Islam.

Muhammad was engaged to Aisha when she was only 6 year old and he was 51, and consummated the marriage while she was still pre-pubescent, aged 9 lunar years old.
That's not paedophilia though according to the haters who accuse others of hate.
Let's attack the Catholics, or the Jews. or Abbott, or Howard, or the USA, or anyone who attended a private school instead? What a great idea
I rue the day that we closed down the asylums and these nutcases were sent home with computers!

There is a link at the bottom of that Wiki site that has pictures of Old Men in Afghanistan with their new wives who are just 10 or 11 years old! I presume that Mantra and Co don't consider that paedophilia.
I doubt that there are any figures on how many paedophiles run Mosques, do Mosques have choirs, etc? When I was a girl there were stories about Elders at the Baptist Church (and also Church of Christ) carrying on with underage girls (and probably boys as well), so it wasn't just the Catholic Church that has the problem.

Yes it is by our standards, but these marriages are legal in their country and many others. There's even a state in the US where they can take a wife as young as 14.

True, it is not only the Catholic church - paedophilia is rampant everywhere and in every nation and of course every religion. The problem is we have the Catholic church so against gay marriage, yet it seems that a huge number of Priests have a gay paedophile affliction. Most religions are hypocritical because they don't always practise what they preach.
