The Liberal Policy on the NBN would have confronted the same asbestos, and the same independant contractors to them would be digging in those pits.
Wrong.

No NBN for you! :rofl :rofl :rofl

We've been spared Monk having the ability to post a few fractions of a second faster than he does now.. With the election of the LIbs in Sept, looks like Monk won't be getting enough fibre in his diet
THE rollout of the $37.4 billion National Broadband Network in South Australia has been hit by “significant delays”, forcing the state’s Labor government to dramatically recast connection projections in its budget.

South Australian budget papers released on Thursday by Premier—and Treasurer—Jay Weatherill revealed the government had forecast that 10 per cent of all premises “would be connected to fibre broadband access by the NBN” in 2012-13.

However, the budget papers state the estimated result for the current financial year is just 0.21 per cent. The forecast for 2013-14 has been drastically revised to 2.5 per cent. “The 2012-13 estimated result is due to significant delays in the deployment of the NBN in SA,” the papers say.

I am starting to see this .jpg:large stuff a bit.

As speeds (other than Aust) increase formats expand to utilise this opportunity. phpBB3 hasn’t done anything to cope with this yet, but will before long I bet! We MUST have the NBN!
oMgz we needz the NBN to open big twitter picz
It would be funny except this dickhead can vote instead of being shot

Yet another lefty lie shot to pieces

Copper network will last another 100 years, says David Thodey
THE Coalition's plan to roll out a national broadband network using Telstra's copper network has received a significant boost as the telco giant's boss declared the ancient copper asset could run for another 100 years.

Speaking to journalist after a Trans-Tasman Business lunch in Sydney today, David Thodey said that the state of Telstra's copper network was in good working order and would remain so for generations to come.

"Copper has been going for 100 years, I think it will be going for another 100," he said.

"There is always opportunity so you have to keep things maintained. But it's perfectly ok, there is some copper a lot older than others but copper does not decompose."

Under Labor's flagship NBN project, $37.4 billion is being spent to build a state-of-the-art fibre-to-the-premise network that will bypass Telstra's copper network to connect homes and business to fibre optic cable.

Labor has insisted that fibre optic cables need to be laid because it not only provides superior download and upload speeds, but because Telstra's 100-year-old copper network is in a state of disrepair and needs to be replaced.

But Mr Thodey's declaration will be viewed as a significant win for the Coalition in its battle to convince voters that it's cheaper to deploy - at a cost of $20.4bn - and slower-speeded broadband network can service consumers' ever-increasing hunger for fast broadband speeds and large download capacities.

Well there is a surprise.

Cooper doesn't deteriorate and is good enough.....

This white elephant that distributes fibre to the home needs to be killed.

I hope they change NBN when they get in a promised.

Undoing the bad contracts that Labor have written will be difficult and will probably imped making the savings needed.

Monk was wrong.... again. Why am I'm surprised..... well I'm not.

Labor is the

I remember when all you needed to do was to increase the RAM to download/view stuff faster. It probably still works to a degree. My laptop has 8 GB of RAM, whereas my ancient PC only has 2.5 GB (it is XP 34 bit so can't go higher with RAM regardless of how much you add, I installed 3GB). ;)

I have ADSL2+ but since I am several kilometers from the Exchange, my speed isn't as fast as advertised or what I pay for. However, my email arrives quickly, I don't have any problems viewing the sites I do, the thread that AM started about gifs loads up immediately. I download full games online and although not instantaneous as the files are huge (Gigs) the download speed seems to relate to the site I am downloading from, not my ISP connection speed. Plus, I never have interruptions with downloading games like we used to have. I watch TV and movies online without any problem ..... on both the laptop and PC so RAM isn't as it was thought to be.

I won't even waste my time mentioning the jerk over there ---------------------->

Exactly.

Only a poorly implement solution needs infinite bandwidth.

The clever ones work well with the current limitations.

Video - smart compression and play while still downloading - not like the old days where the whole video had to be downloaded before playing.
Games - small packets for movement and in the background downloading the next scenes before you get there.
Smart browsers.

Really? I am not talking about Netflix (or whatever it is called) just the (forgotten name) Aussie TV.com.au or something where you can catch up on ALL Channels. Google for Aussie TV online or something like that.

I have Foxtel so don't care about TV.

I can watch catch-up tv as it streams but I rarely bother. Most of the shows I watch aren't shown here anyway, so I download them all and watch at my leisure.

I thought SN meant you could download a movie/show etc and watch it as it downloads. I can't do that. Takes me about 20 mins to download a movie and I am happy with that. TV shows are obviously a lot quicker.
