What concerns me about the latest news on the Wall Street and Tokyo Stock exchange is that we're looking at an imminent stock market collapse.
If/when that happens we're ALL going to be hit hard.
Do you not see an imminent crash IQ?
Yes/no ; why/why not please. I'd be very interested to see what your take is on all this IQ.
If you have money to SAVE, avoid the "get rich quick" Stock Exchange ......... it's as bad as putting money down a poker machine and hoping or buying a lottery ticket.
You do have a choice on where you stick your Super Funds. Go Government. Surely (even with Dumbo as PM) we won't go broke.
Government Bonds and CASH ...... won't make you heaps of money (gambling) but it is very SAFE.
Well, that's basically how I see it too Neferti.
Although if I had CASH .. I'd be putting it into blue chip property investment. Why? I'm way more confident dabbling in the property market and my experience lies in that area.
Govt bonds? I've never invested in those. I've been advised that the potential yields are not as good anyway.

You reckon we can get back to the topic at all?
Oh come on
sweet thing, you seem agitated.

1) You want IQ to get jealous ... don't you lol?
2) I'M NOT AGITATED FFS! Well now I am .. but I wasn't a second ago
Oh and these emoticons are awful. Oz Pol has better ones. Just thought I'd throw that in whilst in my agitated state lol

Not at all. Japan is fairly insular in terms of their market. There will be some flow on effects in certain stocks but they relate more to NASDAQ than the ASX (eg. semiconductors, chemicals etc)
Make no mistake, Japan is going through a disaster and one that will see shares slide due to panic merchants rather than sound financial acumen but that should be looked at as an opportunity rather than a trigger for global financial collapse- although I'm sure the leftards would like to see that happen so we can all go live in caves

I SENSE stock market crash in the air ..
I made a killing on some uranium stocks in the last 2 days.
If you'd said you got a bargain, that would be quite understandable, but if you were selling, as in made a killing, well that's hard to fathom considering the crash in uranium prices.
Nuclear backlash pummels uranium industry
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-in ... le1944906/
The worsening crisis led to a further sell-off of uranium stocks, some of which have fallen by almost 50 per cent in the past three days.
Japan’s nuclear crisis also caused a 10-per-cent drop in the uranium spot price this week to about $60 (U.S.) a pound, reversing a steady climb over the past few months. Until mid-2010, uranium had been hovering at around $40 a pound since the 2008 commodities meltdown.

Market closes flat on nuclear fears
http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/australian ... ear-fears/
In recent days uranium miners have been the most heavily sold down stocks.
Today John Borshoff, the head of one of the biggest producers Paladin, slammed the media and share traders for their treatment of nuclear-focused businesses.
Shares in the company plunged 33 per cent in trade over Monday and Tuesday, and today slid another 9.5 per cent after a small reprieve yesterday.

IQ .. they are now likening Japan's nuclear disaster to that of Chernobyl.
Apparently it is as I thought .. far worse than they've been letting on.
I still maintain the position that we're gonna see a stock market collapse here.
Ok .. let me read back and see what I've missed in here.

The comparison to Chernobyl is not valid. Three Mile Island would be closer if the situation worsens
Different reactor. Different fuel load
But don't let that stop you soaking up the fear

Its completely valid. 3 mile Is didn't breach the containment structure, Chernobyl did. At Fukushima, poor reactor design in GE's Mark 1 led to hydrogen build-up causing explosions blowing the containment structure off. Actually its potentially far worse than Chernobyl for 2 main reasons. 1st there's more reactors to contend with, and 2nd, aside from melting cores, the spent fuel pools also risk boiling dry and going pyro.
Don't kid yourself, this is the worst nuclear disaster to date.
BTW, U$A has 23 GE Mark 1 reactors in 16 locations.
