The biggest cultural differences I found between Sydney & Melbourne pre-2000 was that crime seemed to be more prevalent in Sydney's Poor and in Melbourne's Rich.

I find Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia very much on a different playing field than NSW, South Australia and Tasmania. Northern Territory seeming like a neutral country of its own aligned to neither.
I've often wondered what we would have been like, had we been divided into 50 or so different smaller countries.

Sydney's got it's very wealthy underworld, you better believe it.
Those you wouldn't suspect, like local councils mayors involved in all manner of dirty deeds.
I think you might have it the wrong way round, actually.

When the outlaw motorcycle clubs were forced to close shop, and the cross was given a curfew, guess where they all went?

:c

Melbourne

So now Melbourne's got the worst of both states ha ha ha.

Never a dull moment in Ballarat either for that matter, and so long as you don't associate with the wrong people, you'd never even know.

Since 2000. Sydney and Melbourne have become much the same. Coincidently, Hanson and her One Nation of mediocre blandness came about.
I believe that Australia was culturally more enriched when the States were very different to each other and crossing the border for a holiday was indeed an escape from the home norm.

Ballarats a province in it's own right, very eery at night, especially down our historic lane-ways, the fog, the old Gothic and Victorian buildings...... love it.

My black Oriental cat suits Ballarats city scape.

With different languages, religions, political systems, laws, defense forces, flags, anthems, power grids and unique food recipes?

Will Sussan Ley make it to the next election as leader of the opposition?

She won 29 to 25 and relied on the votes of senators whose terms end on June 30, so her current majority will more than likely evaporate.

She's pro 'welcome to country' and all that goes with it. She's said that Robert Menzies founded the party as the “Liberal” party not the "Conservative" party.

I was at a regional hospital the other day and 2 flags were painted on all the walls. One was the Aboriginal flag and the other I had to search lol. It was the Torres Strait Islander flag. Not an Aussie flag in sight. I don't want more of this. Aren't we all Australians?

Was she chosen just because she's a woman? Personally, I think there are too many women being elevated in politics just because they are women.

Yes I believe the motorcycle gangs using patches on their backs were all banned in QLD and NSW
so they came to live in Melbourne.

I don't think anybody should be chosen or dismissed because of gender.
Criteria for political leader should be ability and ideology while for public service or juditial it should be only ability.
