Seems most of the rest of the world would rather pass the buck and play Shultzy "I saw nothing, I know nothing".

Aircraft carrier left us to die, say migrants

Dozens of African migrants were left to die in the Mediterranean after a number of European military units apparently ignored their cries for help, the Guardian has learned. Two of the nine survivors claim this included a Nato ship.
A boat carrying 72 passengers, including several women, young children and political refugees, ran into trouble in late March after leaving Tripoli for the Italian island of Lampedusa. Despite alarms being raised with the Italian coastguard and the boat making contact with a military helicopter and a warship, no rescue effort was attempted.
All but 11 of those on board died from thirst and hunger after their vessel was left to drift in open waters for 16 days. "Every morning we would wake up and find more bodies, which we would leave for 24 hours and then throw overboard," said Abu Kurke, one of only nine survivors. "By the final days, we didn't know ourselves … everyone was either praying, or dying."
Despite the trauma of their last attempt, the migrants – who are hiding out in the house of an Ethiopian in the Libyan capital – are willing to tackle the Mediterranean again if it means reaching Europe and gaining asylum.

Are these the same public servants that brought us the BER rort, home insulation bungle, green loans scam, relaxing of our borders fiasco, digital set top boxes ripoff and the carbon tax bullshite?Aussie wrote:I have the view that a million public servants have researched the issue, and bunged up to their Minister a proposal.
Malaysian cowboy authorities are well known to "sell" asylum seekers into illegal slavery. Question remarks hover over Malaysia's human rights record with refugees. If this was Howard's proposal every lefty would be foaming at the mouth, yet Gillard escapes unharmed. Why?

Please Celly, you're not still believing a bunch of outrageous lies are you? After they've long been demonstrated to be mostly hysterical crap. Dunno about your lot down there but our staff here are happy to recieve our two "rorts". Actually, the rort they've almost finished just behind my room would have to be one of the best looking rorts I've ever seen and it will go on serving us for decades. Worthwhile rort I'd say but you can believe whatever you like I guess. Are these the same public servants that brought us the BER rort, home insulation bungle

I don't see her escaping and certainly not unharmed. As discussed on Q&A last night, this is not an easy issue for any Government. Even Howard, according to Turnbull last night, from time to time, was testing proposed solutions not knowing if they would work. Gillard is doing the same.Ethnic wrote:Are these the same public servants that brought us the BER rort, home insulation bungle, green loans scam, relaxing of our borders fiasco, digital set top boxes ripoff and the carbon tax bullshite?Aussie wrote:I have the view that a million public servants have researched the issue, and bunged up to their Minister a proposal.

If any of us has the ultimate solution, we have kept it very quiet. There many Countries in Europe struggling with a far greater problem that we are confronted with.
And Ethnic (or do you prefer Potty Mouth Wog?) the Country relies heavily upon public servants who are placed under immense pressure by their political Masters to make them look good. They are bound to stuff up, but I do not agree that BER was a mistake, and only time will tell about set-top boxes, and carbon tax.
Dunno what you mean about 'green loans scam.'
