WTF is that supposed to mean? A conviction and time spent in jail can't be hidden. Normal standard routine criminal record checks reveal this type of information.

No, its more about the agenda set down by some on here. I'm not condoning what was done. Theres no way he should have got the job, but the beat up on here is unmerited. We seem to be falling into the US trap, where moderate voices are being drowned out by extremist views.

Depends on whether you ask for a national check, costs the same money ($37.30 in Qld, 2007), but if you don't stipulate, the cops tend to default to their own state.
If his crime and conviction was in ACT (?) it should have shown up straight away.
