just realised RM that I agreed with you because I must have momentarily passed out..I still think Abbot would be a good leader..

Ya know, the Libs are totally fucked over this matter. They really have only one way to go if they want to stay relevant. That is, stick with Turnbull. Abbott will never be Leader, that leaves only Hockey. But he is hoisted on his own petard. His heretofore clear and unequivocal position is support for Turnbull and the ETS. If he wavers on either position, he blows all credibility, and gives Turnbull more ammunition.
What of the piss weak Minchin, using his 12 year old daughter as a political weapon? Puppet master? Who is his puppet?
Sic 'em Malcolm. You'll never have my Vote on election day, but I admire your spirit, guts, leadership, hard working ethic, and integrity.

Re: Turnbull
If genial Joe or angry Abbot take it they have to say we are waiting to see what happens at Copenhagen. (There may be no firm comitments from the big boys there). Then after Copenhagen we will have an inter party debate on the issue with the information we have about what the real cause of the problem intends to do, China, India, Europe, the USA.
Only then can we possibly discuss what sort of economic sacrifice we would ask from the Australian people and respond.
Cap and trade is popular right now because no cost has been inflicted, as soon as there is one (one report I read claims there be a 1,300 a year increase in electricity bills here in Australia, just one effect) the issue will backfire on Labor, Turnbal should have thought seriously before they leaped on this Labor boat.

Re: Turnbull
It gets better and better. The Media/Schmedia have it that there will be a a spill tomorrow. Hockey will vote against it, and he knows that will lose. So, there will be a spill. Turnbulll the Alpha Bull (as I have now anointed him) will run. So, if Hockey is a man of his word...i.e, saying, as he has, that he will not run against The Bull, he will not run. But, will he? Abbott will run and if it is Abbott -v- The Bull, bovine wins.
But what if Joe is not a man of his word, and he runs.
Well, (a) the Labor Party will have a field day forever if Joe wins and (b) he will forever go down as Minchin's muppett.
All good for the ALP, and the Media/Schmedia are salivating! If The Bull wins, a victory for honesty, integrity and balls, and the Media/Schmedia will have no option to write about it that way.
If Hockey wins......................they will have a thousand quotes of his pro The Bull, pro the ETS etc etc. to hound him down.
I tells ya!
The Libs have only one way to go to prevent extinction. Go with The Bull, and more power to his elbow!

What would Robert Menzies make of this day? Three Catholics, fighting over the ruins of his Liberal Party.

Re: Turnbull
Al Joe has to do is say I previously supported the leader on the issue but it has become too divisive for our party, then as Copenhagen produces a lot of vauge promises but none of the Big Players comit with real legislation (Obama has already made a promise is own Democratic Sentate has warned him it will not do) Hockey can then turn on Labor and start the drum beat, 'they have (or would have) locked us into to billions of dollars of cost or tax while the real problem nations play it by ear.'
Conversely, some of Europe is likely to lock in, from that perspective in the next year Hockey should highlight the cost to each European for that ideological move.

I think he might turn out better than we thought and give the government a shakeup it badly needs.
Or not.

Ooooh, a punch on the way out.
Abbott strikes me as a fluffy bunny... I'm sorry, that's just the impression I get.
Blame the media
