Most likely , but it seems they're all coming from that side of fence , screams systemic rorting from the adults when the age of entitlement is supposed to be over .... three years ago

Ministers have their very own "Travel" people who do all the bookings. No doubt they do what is asked of them without question as it is like an Order. I presume that Ministers " personal staff" passes on the directions to the Travel booking people. So it isn't necessarily the Minister who has made a mistake. Probably goes through several "levels" before it arrives on the desk of the kid who uses the phone to do the bookings. Kids (and others) seem to think that The Minister is a God ... during my 10 years as a Public Servant, I tended to ignore them .... didn't get me too many promotions but they are ALL arseholes anyway.

I recall one Minister doing "the rounds" and I was at my desk, reading the newspaper at the time .... everybody jumped to ATTENTION. I continued reading the newspaper ... had no idea who this person was. Ralph Willis. I didn't know him from a bar of soap. It was about 1986 ish.

Probably not. Some of this stuff would be the Staffers doing what they are expected to do ... knowing there is an "event/meeting" in the Diary and organising the travel arrangements/accommodation with the Travel Dept. If they expect the Minister to ask them to do this, they won't last long. You need to be a mind reader.

As far as I know, nobody signs off anything ... until the bills arrive and are sent to the relevant Minister's staffer by Accounts Department, for confirmation .... and it is a bit late then.

Remember that The Minister is a Big Shot and has lots of minions running around thinking that they are also very important.

you know nef.. when I first came to Canberra I worked for a small frozen food b usiness and we delivered to Parliament house Harmen just about all the govt places that had their own kistchs and so on I did the invoicing this was in the day before computers they were just starting to come in to the offices.. we did it my hand..we would get the order over the phone write an invoice the driver would take it with the delivery and leave the original with the person who signed for it...at the end of the month we would send out an statement with the invoice copies... and one day I was speaking to the guy that paid the bills... and he informed me.. oh we dont pay on invoices we only pay on statements....I couldnt help but think.. who doesnt check invoices????.. well obviously the public service...lolol..we were only a piddling little place but some invoices /statements would be huge..
