Re: Halal food for Christmas in Aussie Jails
In our society, we respect religious freedom. Don't we.
We don't lose that we are incarcerated, in fact we used to encourage finding your God as part of the rehab process I thought. Recent times may have some people thinking differently.
Let them have their food. Hell, you are probably having Halal food every time you buy from the supermarket. Nearly all meet comes from halal certified slaughter houses . Bleeding the cow or sheep as part of the slaughter process is definitely the way to go for a better quality of meat. The old man used to do this. All farmers I knew would just cut their throat and let them bleed to death. Better meat they said.
I am going to start a new religion where lobsters are the only food that can be eaten. To join you need to send me $1000 to my website. Prisoners get a special discount of $1. Bitcoins accepted. Stolen bitcoins accepted. Stolen cash accepted with no liability.
You got tot love religion. You gotta love how we have made them a protected species under the law, with tax exemptions, land ownership and power to influence our law makers. We made it, we need to live with it. get rid of all religious privileges for all or respect their dietary constrains.

Halal foods was/is served at Guantanamo Bay and lots of it - buffets. The Muslim prisoners wouldn't even eat fruit that was slightly damaged. The prisoners got so fat treadmills were installed.

It's the same here, for halal...AiA in Atlanta wrote:most foods in the USA, if you look carefully, are labeled "kosher" and have been for a long long time. kosher is halal but for jews, of course, and nobody here mentions it unless they are a rabid anti-semite

I did some time in max security at Parramatta ... stone walls, steel door, stainless sink and dunny (no seat) and angle iron bars in the window (no glass) ... while there I spent 17 & 1/2 hours per day locked behind that steel door.
There was a bunch of Lebos in there .. about 30 of them ... and usually played handball most of our time outside.
One arvo, after muster in 5 wing , we were queued up to collect our dinner which we took back to our cells.
This Lebo holds out his plate and the sweeper put ham on his plate. He said "I'm on muslim diet"
and the sweeper replied "No you're not, there's 3 people in here on muslim diet and you're not one of them, don't like ham don't eat it" ... I would have gladly had extra ham.
I knew a bloke in Long Bay who kept his jug on the boil just in case 6 Lebos walked in his cell and tried to rape him. Rape does happen, but not anywhere near as often as TV makes out.

If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

Prison is a punishment, especially Supermax. We should not be pandering to any culinary demands whether they be based on religious grounds or not.

Exactly and that takes away our freedom of choice as companies are not required to mark products halal certified. Many companies have removed the halal certification logo from their products because sales went down. All for 2% of our population? Halal Food is the greatest lot of bullsh1t ever thought up in my opinion.
Fuck the muslims, get them to create their own and let them go broke.
If I was working in a company making special halal food , I would add a drop of Rednecks special sauce!

Halal Choices. Lobby politicians to force them to do something about labelling laws.

Support non halal brands. They are the lesser on the list

Don't buy Cadbury products at Easter.
