Then Sales went for the cheap-shot; an impertinent slur that she stuttered and stammered her way through, perhaps fearful it would irrevocably stain her journalistic resume — as maybe it should.
“Do you think you should reconsider that given the … uh… your track record as … ah… treasurer, as Australians may see it, is one of over-promising and under-delivering?”
In other words, Sales asked Australia’s treasurer whether he plans to resign in disgrace because just about everyone thinks he’s a terrible treasurer?

Wayne Swan is almost never a confident speaker but, at this final insult, the Euromoney International Finance Minister of the Year glared back at the QUT Journalism School graduate with a steely expression and responded smoothly, stating undeniable facts about his illustrious record as the custodian of Australia’s considerable treasure — facts Sales’ tired old media will fudge and try to spin away in their inexorable urgency to boost an economic illiterate on a Salesian scale to the top job.

And this is what Swan said:
Leigh, there’s nothing I’m prouder of than my record as treasurer.

We have an economy which is 13 per cent bigger than it was before the Global Financial Crisis.

We put in place the most successful response to the Global Financial Crisis and the global recession of any developed economy in the world.

We have an unemployment rate — one of the lowest in the world.

We have a big investment pipeline.

We have record low interest rates and we have contained inflation.

I’m really proud of that and I’m proud of what our Government has done over a five-and-a-half year period.

Swanny is quite right to be proud of his achievements!

Why a slow progression to a surplus is better than slash and burn:

So I think Swan got the Budget about right. Article is long but worth reading. Now, if someone would only tell the Europeans!

Bwahahahaha 5 months ago the whole ALP were saying they were still on track for a $1.1Bn surplus...5 months later= $19.4Bn deficit

That's not slow...that's fucking backwards

Looks like that gutless weakling Tone has weaseled out of moving a No Confidence motion:
Abbott just reneged on his no confidence stunt by agreeing the Election is on in 121 days

Geez, can’t see any reason why anyone would want this weakling representing us at international gatherings—he would give away the shop at the first hint of pressure!

Strawmen? Propaganda? Your rightwing simian knuckle dragger runs from his own pressers and has now backed out of his Motion of No Confidence. On the 7.30 Report he said he had not read a paper tho he was telling lies about why BHP didn’t expand Roxby Downs. Despite bravado beforehand monkey man has not told the Indo Pres or Foreign Minister he intends “to turn the boats around.”

Clearly you see he is a weak and lazy Leader. That is no reason to accuse me of attacking strawmen, dickhead!

Wayne Swan rules out changes to negative gearing
* From: AAP
* May 21, 2013 11:41AM

FEDERAL Treasurer Wayne Swan has ruled out supporting any changes to the existing negative gearing arrangements.

Shadow treasurer Joe Hockey has reportedly confirmed a coalition government's white paper on tax reform could include a look at negative gearing, which allows residential property investors to claim tax deductions when interest costs exceed rental income.

"We ruled out any change to the existing arrangements in our response to the Henry (tax) report," Mr Swan said.

"It appears that the Liberal Party have thrown open that whole discussion. It's entirely a matter for them." So it should.

Statistics from the Australian Taxation Office show that 1.2 million Australians shared a $13 billion tax break on investment properties.

Mr Hockey has already said a review would look at the rate and the coverage of the GST, which was not included in the Henry tax review.

Let me write this slowly and in big font for you dunderheads...

A real tax review would take in every tax Australians pay to the government I welcome proper scrutiny and hope for a fair and better system in the end.
