Mantra, Liberal are all about job creation, you only have to take a historical look back through ABS employment figures to realise that these soon to be laid-off/reassigned public servants will find meaningful employment elsewhere if not in some cramped government department without windows or natural lighting, in the private sector where rates of pay are generally higher and more competitive.

At present, they are being paid peanuts.

Many of them aren't even Australian permanent residents.

Has it not struck you odd that much of Labors bureaucracy ....these endless panels and committees are being chaired by internationalists with vested business interests who have only been in Australia since Labor got in?

True, although they're not being paid peanuts - but well above award wages, but it is the same with every government. The Coalition spent just as much, if not more on inquiries, consultants and an exorbitant amount on advertising alone of $2 billion. In just one year he spent $535 million on consultants.

He also introduced the 485 visa for foreign students which enables them to complete dodgy courses - then stay here working for another 4 years - and for others - citizenship.

Both parties are as bad as each other when it comes to wasting money.

There are a lot more than 12,000 Federal public servants. Do you think any one of them would vote for the Coalition believing they could get the sack?
None will get the sack. They will be asked to leave ........ and offered The Package.

Canberra is a Labor Town ..... lots of sad and angry people when Abbott gets in. So? Life wasn't meant to be easy.

It's as simple as that is it? Those who are sacked will just add to the unemployed and suddenly - as with all new governments after massive sackings - they have to employ new staff. So we're constantly giving the sacked PS's huge payouts, then employing more to fill their place - next government gets in and the whole process starts over again. That is a huge waste of taxpayer's money.
There will be NO SACKINGS. Those who take The Package, will do so on their own volition. There are NO huge payouts in the Public Service. Two weeks salary for each year of service? That is ... if you began working as a "clerk" back in 1970 ... 43 years ago and are a dead-head now and still on the "middle management" level (maybe $80,000 a year? ... say $1540 a week before tax)... your "package" would be, perhaps ... $1,540 x 43 x2 = $132,440? HUGE amount, what?
If the leader of a government can't sack public servants - how did Campbell Newman manage to get rid of so many in his first month or so in government?
He didn't. State Governments are different to Commonwealth Governments but I would assume that the rules are similar. You can NOT be sacked by the Public Service unless you get gaoled for some crime. The former ALP Government in Queensland was all for "bums on seats" ... spending other people's money is easy for the Lefties. Us Righties SAVE money but still give great SERVICE. Listen and Learn, Mantra!
Wealth is relative. From the comments I've heard recently from those over $250,000 - they all claim to be poor and struggling. So where does that leave a person on an income of say $30,000. Look at Gina Rinehart - she will always be poor and never have enough money, so does that mean she should get her super topped up also by the low income tax payer?
IF wealth is relative as you state, WHY are you whining about people who earn $250K?

STOP looking at what "other people" have. It is none of your business. Be happy about what you have and have achieved.

How many new Kitchens do you need? Why have Aussies become so "American" with THINGS?

Mantra, Labors viral propaganda tactics and media reforms are dishonest and not consistent with our charter of press freedom.

And Mantra, government employees especially public servants receive poor wage increases compared to other workers salaries...

Only their top public servants are enjoying $100k salary increases...ie senior government officials and the director general of ASIO.... understandable..

Not too many people understand government debt. It's not as bad as the opposition portrays and most countries have some debt - Australia less than others. Running a surplus doesn't mean an efficient government, particularly during an economic crisis such as the GFC.

If Australia had run surpluses during the financial crisis, it would have taken tens of billions of dollars out of the economy while the financial crisis and recession was unfolding. Without the Rudd governments stimulus package - our jobless rate would have soared, particularly in industries like construction, retail and manufacturing.

Would you have preferred higher unemployment as long as our government stayed out of debt? Australians in the last 5 years have been able to save more than they have for many decades. When we are personally in debt, which is how the Coalition left us last time and heavily, we have to pay it back - unlike the government who only has to ensure that govt. debt grows slower than the federal tax base.

I don't expect you or any other right whinger to understand this because it's far easier for the opposition and their supporters to chant the party line rather than try to understand basic economics.
