What is the mood at home. Is Labor still sliding or is there a little recovery after the leadership has been settled?

Who knows about the current state of a 'slide.' The 'spill that never was' occurred only a couple of hours ago. A largely unregulated Schmedia is sulking, having been denied their moment in the Sun. That Toad Oakes is calling it a farce. Buggered if I can see why.....apart from having been denied a 'story.' The thaing has been the sole item of Schmedia headline attention for ages, Crean pulled the trigger, Gillard complied with a 'spill,' and there were no contenders apart from Gillard and Swan. Rudd did what he said he would.

Them's the facts. The rest is speculation.

I've only heard snippets. In the space of a day Crean was all for Gillard, then this afternoon he changed his mind about her. Rudd's been badmouthed by the media because he didn't fight Gillard. Why would he bother? The last thing he'd want to be is leader when Labor is going down the gurgler.

Regardless of how bad Labor is - they'll still get my preference (after the Greens) simply because Abbott will end up with no opposition if everyone votes for the Coalition.

There would be quite a few people who don't want to vote for any political party, but you can't allow one party to have unfettered control over the whole country. As much as I'm disillusioned with Labor, Abbott will not be any better. Probably worse.

I have always taken a pride in our opportunity to vote in and vote out governments without military intervention or coups. I have always considered it a privilege to vote and hated it when others told me they didn't vote or donkey voted. But I would never vote forphony tony and Labor do not deserve to govern. So, for the first time in my life I will not be voting. No point voting Greens when I have to preference one of the majors. So I will just vote Greens in the senate and rip up my HORs ballot paper.
