Like I said, we need a different electoral system, and as much as I value grass-roots tradition, given how this current system is working against voters, I believe it's now time for a Republic.

I know what some of you are thinking, how can I of all people recomend a Republic given my being staunchly against it in the past..... I have weighed up the argument, and can't see any other way out of this train wreck of a system.

Think of Labor and Liberals much like Coles and Woolworths.

Neither party has any genuine talent, and it's this way for a reason.

Talent stands to undermine the majority of government who has landed in government due to circumstance, lineage, privilege....not true ability or ingenuity.

The average IQ of both leading parties combined would likely not exceed 110.
And I'm being rather generous here.

It honestly pains me to say that we stand a better chance of reclaiming our nation as a Republic than we do with the duopoly of fraudsters that is the current Lib-Lab engine. 💔

I'm not in favour of becoming a Republic at this point in time. I have no confidence in anyone in either party becoming President, and that's with Albo being a moderate, but there are way too many radicals in the Labor party.

I can only imagine how much Australia could change for the worse with one of those radicals slashing their felt pen across any number of executive orders even though I see such orders as temporary and pretty useless.

We need a law that states EVERY party must state where their preferences go before the election. That would solve a lot of problems. In his bombardment campaign for votes Clive Palmer tossed all of his preferences to Labor (even though he sees himself as a mini Trump) and even Pauline Hanson recommended voters preference minor/freedom parties. But where did One Nation's party preferences really go? It's almost impossible to find out.

All politicians are joined at the hip from both sides.
They'll never agree to dumping or making our preference system more transparent.

Ever!

Because this would be cutting their own throats.

Some history about the full preferential system.

Note, NSW is the only state whereby you can stop at the number 1, when numbering candidates.

I agree with you BO, voters have a right to know how preferences are being scattered, and well in advance of election day if this full preference system is to be truly democratic.

Otherwise, we are basically handing our votes to our chosen candidates to do with what they want.

The preference system can work but it needs to be transparent.

Otherwise it's effectively Votes 4 Sale.

Clive Palmer's own preferences went to no other than Labor.

It all comes down to grimy politicians doing deals with one another from right across the political spectrum regardless of values, ethics or even their own heartfelt core beliefs.

Put simply, they don't really have any, they're all in it to win their crusts.

I honestly pray at night that whoever is next installed is a revolutionary, genuinly ethical and a good person.

This said, if they had these qualities to begin with, it's unlikely they would have won a seat to begin with hu.

Even Pauline Hanson has demonstrated her tretcherous ways in recent years, has somewhat melted into parliament and has almost disappeared into that melting pot of hypocrisy.

I think we should create our own party.

I reckon FD would be up for this ....actually, 🤔 I think he had one registered a while back.

We need something special, something transparent, honest, and genuinly out for Australians best interests.

Trouble is, noones really wanting to do something like this if it doesn't involve $$$$.

Except for me, I could care less about money, I thrive on the finer things in life .... like a fantastic 2nd hand book.

My kids futures are already set, and as for myself I can be in agony in a humble abode just as much as I could be in a mansion that I would require 24/7 staff to maintain anyway.
As for travel, again, I can only travel with a VR - head set these days because of RA.

In a nut shell, money won't change my predicament..... my kids are set for life already, financially speaking, so I'm genuinely in a position to happily contribute to a party or movement and expect not a red razoo in return.

Money won't make my condition anymore pleasant to live with.

So in a nut shell...
if I could create policies "for free" assuming someone might consider them, this would mean a lot to me because I genuinely care about my country, and my fellow Australians, and am not enjoying the direction it's currently headed.
I want to leave behind the best country in the world, a nation moving in the right direction, rather than leave behind a mess.

Currently, we are a mess, and I refuse to read the media hype trying to convince us to believe otherwise.

Anyway what's done is done. We're stuck with a CFMEU government being lorded over by John Setka, we'll just have to manage the fallout as best we can when the recession hits.
The building and construction industry has been wiped-out due to the unions, so the housing crisis isn't going anywhere for now unfortunately.

Victoria will hurt the most. It already is.

Food stamps, anyone?

Toilet paper perhaps?

:c
