I guess I need to repeat myself. Both major parties have identical emissions reduction targets (for Australia) that are linked to global agreements. This is entirely separate from the mechanism used locally to reduce emissions. The supposed problem is global... there are no boundaries fd. Surely you know this.
Why is that so hard to understand? Judging an entirely local policy on it's global impact is just stupid, like Abbott's support base.
Abbott's plan is to replace it with a far more expensive and wasteful mechanism. Not caring equates to hypocrisy.I don't care for it at all. It is economic vandalism of the highest order and will be gone in a massive mandate come Sept.
By up, do you mean the 8.6% decrease in the first 6 months? Is this what you mean by the tax not affecting emissions? You don't need a degree for this IQ. You just need to think before parroting Abbott propaganda. The carbon tax is currently set in the mid-high $20 mark which is way above the market, so tell me FD, what are the projections for Australia's emissions by 2015?
Why are they up and not down according to your 'brilliant' economic theory?

Emissions drop signals fall in carbon tax take
CARBON emissions from the electricity sector have dived in the first six months under the carbon tax, with much greater use of renewable energy and cutbacks in consumption.
