How many of us have had connectivity issues with the current copper wiring, have had to have Telstra come out and fiddle around with the wiring?
We had a recent dilemma here in Sydney whereby we had trouble (more so my son) for several months.
We were formerly Dodo customers, who's rep got so fed up with Telstra relinquishing on their duty to repair the lines Dodo leased from them that they told us we might as well become Telstra Customers if we want the problem fixed, as it was not within their power to entirely repair the problem, and this was even after we had lodged a complaint with the Telecommunications Ombudsman.
So, we switch to Telstra, who then tell us that the only way to stop the drop-outs is to change plans, this is to go fiber as the cables in the street were not worth repairing and they were in process of phasing them out all together.
So... $100 p/m later, sure, we have the fastest and the best internet, but unfortunately, we have no say as to the ISP that provides us with an internet service.
If we go with another (other than Telstra) provider, they make sure the lines they lease out to their competitors are in poor repair, and if we stay with Telstra, we are helpless to modify the plan we are on because that's what fibre-optic costs in our area at present.
If we go back to "Copper-cable" we are certain of more drop-outs.
So... far better to have the Coalition roll out something less communist, but more than an old copper stove... than risk the ALP having their way with a NBN-co and our telicos.
Thats how I see it.
