Re: McNuclear McPower/McWaste from the McLiberals
The market is what's allowing the possibility to arise in the first place of safe disposal of waste, not government.
Don't be silly. Even communists can dig a hole.
Want to compare the competence of those exposed to the discipline of the market vs bureacracies?
I'm not a big fan of pointless time wasters. Like I said, there are some things a free market should be left to deal with. This is not one of them.

Digging a hole isn't safe disposal ... give it time, it will be economically expedient to send shuttles with nuclear waste into space, to send our waste into the sun, so we don't have the issue of waste lying around. Already the first steps towards this are underway via space tourism. It can take off, if we let it.freediver wrote:The market is what's allowing the possibility to arise in the first place of safe disposal of waste, not government.

That is, if socialism doesn't take over first and completely shut down the natural progression of industry which can allow this to happen. Socialism is very near its objectives, so we must be very careful (if Obama wins the election, it's lights out and good night.) If you think dictators give a flying fuck about what happens to nuclear waste and what it might do to the population, you had better start watching some youtube documentaries on Stalinist Russia.
That's where we're headed. We are currently in a fascist state - communism mixed with capitalism - but we are moving further left. Serious as cancer (or nuclear waste.)

Fascist huh? I don't know why all those victims of Stalin and Mussolini complain so much.....
Re: McNuclear McPower/McWaste from the McLiberals
Sounds like we've only got two choices. If we take the left road - at least there will be life left on this planet in a century or so. If we take the right road, we'll end up dying a slow agonising death from radiation fallout. We won't just be contaminating this planet - we'll be contaminating the whole universe. That's where we're headed. I spose you mean the Radiation soaked Universe?mantra wrote: Sounds like we've only got two choices. If we take the left road - at least there will be life left on this planet in a century or so. What you argue sort of makes sense; accept that it makes no sense at all.
How will going Left make life remain on the planet, and how will going Right make us die a slow death from radiation? unless the friviolous left hurl Nukes at its enemies to save the planet. Somethings out of kilt here.
On BrokenDrums point, I would say we have gone past the fascist state model, and are now in a phase of chauvinism, next is total commy-capitalism, followed by whatever.
Unless this can be corrected, that is. Perhaps the US holds the key, thought I doubt that. Depending on which way the electoral cards fall, will determine on how the Left/Right world views will respond.
Only God can order that around, and only a few will be able to manipulate the global dimensions, so it is more a point of luck (or a needed manipulation) that will determine the direction world matters will take.

Oooh, I can't wait for total commy-capitalism. That should be interesting, as long as we don't topple into whatever, god forbid. I'll get right on to manipulating the global dimensions. Hold onto your abscissa.

As far as the lefties preserving life on the planet - hasn't our Kevin been spruiking "no nuclear arms" on the world stage recently? Another positive is our Energy Minister - Martin Ferguson who (I assumed was a Liberal agent) has suddenly changed his fixation on nuclear power and stated today NO NUCLEAR POWER IN AUSTRALIA.
The lefties have high ideals and respect humanity.

Shooting nuclear waste into the sun is not an option.

One of these would be a disaster even worse than Chernobyl... rockets have a disturbing tendency to blow up, in the upper atmosphere, spreading their payload across whole continents, if not further.
