Swedish authorities initially withdrew their warrant for Julian Assange, according to the Associated Press. “I don’t think there is reason to suspect that he has committed rape,” chief prosecutor Eva Finne said in a short statement.

Funny how things change in light of the cable leaks.

So Assange is wanted on 2 sexual assault charges in Sweden. I thought women might have some sympathy for fellow women who may have been raped/assaulted.

Those charges precede the Swedish action re sexual assault.

The real hero is that US soldier who downloaded all that data.

Assange is no hero. He even expected Gillard would send commandos to rescue him and fly him home. Some fucking hero, more a spoiled brat!

When you drill right down, Assanga is no better than any other piss-weak journo who gets fed information. Just in this case, the stuff he got fed was very good stuff. Monk is right. The real hero is the Whistle Blower, and Assange is getting the accolades from those who have left the real Hero unassisted, or even properly acknowledged.

Anyone care to tell me how the above relates to Julian Assange winning the Sydney Peace Prize??

Well for those with limited reasoning, it might not be obvious, but most recognise Assange opposed the duplicitous and nefarious antics of elitist officials via exposure rather than resorting to bullets and bombs. And so conducted his activities in a peaceful manner.

A similar example would be Nelson Mandella. He was gaoled for sabotage, and was refered to as a terrorist in South Africa. ANC were blowing up electrical supply towers to damage the apartheid regime economically, rather than executing opponents and risk justifying the regime's behaviour.
This is why Nelson Mandella won the Nobel Peace Prize.
