Interesting that Labor governments allow these types of houses to be built and, at the same time, demand a carbon tax?

The size of verandahs, eaves is Federal Government business? I think not. Local Government, yes.

Yup, knowing energy costs have increased due to CT might mean people look for more energy efficient homes.

Some easy things can be done to reduce energy costs—awnings, deciduous shade trees that allow winter sun through.

Julia Gillard is due to reveal the details of the carbon tax at lunchtime on Sunday, with an address to the nation filmed by the ABC to be broadcast at 6.30pm.
News bosses at commercial networks Seven and Nine were initially hostile to a request from the government to consider broadcasting the feed, but were reportedly overruled by their network chiefs yesterday. Ten and Sky will also broadcast the five-minute address.

Tone is desperately scrambling to get equal time in reply. Like we need another 5 minutes of “No” “GBNT” and so on. Empty pitcher making lots of meaningless noise.

Most councils actually do make you build new homes that are energy efficent (as far as these things go, there have been problems with the rating system). I know that here, you need to do things such as take into account aspect, install insulation and solar hot water systems, limit A/C, all to conform to a minimum rating.

I can’t see much sign of it here tho. Most building around me is infill type, home units so I guess less ability to play around with positioning. The other type of house is very large relative to the block.

But according to MMT/FFT, the government have an infinite supply of fiat currency so can nation build a green energy solution and counter the unemployment rate at the same time. Now given your support for MMT/FFT, why are you supporting this impost upon the people at the hands of the Gillard Government?

To most people it won’t be an impost. Tax is a regulator/stimulator of economic activity, CT stimulates low carbon purchases.

Which do you support Monk. The Gillard approach to currency which assumes it is finite, or the MMT/FFT approach to currency which apparently solves the carbon energy problems and reduces unemployment? :yahoo

I support the sensible approach that says the govt just spending money will create inflation/hyperinflation. That has been my approach all the way through this dramaqueen thread of yours, Sappho.
