I used to think it devious that the sterylising and anti-nutrient properties of soy beans are put into so many processed food items, but now realise causing disease and reducing fertility on an over populated rock is just what we need.

It'd be one of your better conspiracy theory, Hopster, but unfortunately the "powers that be" arn't on the population control bandwagon... yet :P

Breeding is like God or fate; concepts like deserve, fair, rational or planned have nothing to do with it.

Jig your wiggy, give some back, and then let Moma Fucken Nature sort it all out.

I'm with Froggen on this one. Let Nature decide. To do otherwise is to mess with ethics and rights such as autonomy and our right to choose parenthood. China tried to mess with fertility and into the bargin they messed up the numbers balance between men and women. They also caused a huge ageing population they plan to fix by removing the One Child Policy... unofficially known as the 1.78 Child Policy.

I'm sure that Nature has some pretty fantastic super bugs waiting in the wings that will do for our future what the Black Death did in the past.

Indeed. If man doesn't deal with overpopulation, Nature will.

The Chinese were starving a generation ago. Now they are coming up in the world.

No, not Human Nature but Mother Nature. Overpopulation is no longer a threat in the sub-Sahara thanks to AIDS. Europe would have the population of China if it were not for the plagues of the 14th century.

You sure about that?

There are some areas where once the population trends were up up up have leveled.
