So, explain to me, why is selling to the Chinese - who are, despite their claims to the contrary - capitalists, any worse than selling to the British or American capitalists? Mmmmm? Perhaps we should sell off a few more for good measure but maybe double the asking price this time? $1 didn't go too far so perhaps we should sell the next airport off for $2 instead of $1? Maybe we could sell this next one to the Russians just so we aren't accused of favouritism.

Now, you can complain all you like but more rationale minded people can see that the only way we can make money is to either dig something up/grow something/make something and then sell it. As previous Governments, of all flavours have failed in the last option (ie "make something"), that only leaves us with the two former ones. Alternatively we can just sell the whole lot off and make money that way.

As I have said, I don't like selling off any assets to anyone. Be they Chinese or a Pom or a Septic or even Australian. However, I also am forced to recognise that we, as a nation, do not have the cash required to develop our industries/infrastructure/ports/etc. so we sell off the assets to create more money for investment (in theory).

Now, BO, you might not like Chinese people but I cannot figure out why. Could it be because they are well, Chinese? Are you really that much of a Racist? Really? Oh, dearie, dearie me. As I have pointed out, no matter who purchases our assets, they cannot put them into their back pocket and take them back to where ever they came from. They are literally too big, too geographically diverse and they wouldn't be making any money out of such a deal and that is the key part - they want to make money. Guess who's money they want? Ours. Yours, mine, everybody's. Well, the way the system is structured that is how it works. Now, you can suggest a way to restructure our economy but past efforts have foundered 'cause of various reasons. Tariffs make our industries expensive and their products expensive and noncompetitive. Got any useful or valid suggestions that don't send us broke as a nation? Mmmm?

They wanted to increase manufacturing,training and buy back the farm bwian. They wanted to improve infrastructure and build and rebuild industries, and invest in Australians and Australian companies. They sought to control population and provide better water infrastructure in Australia in an effort to improve sustainability and maintain our lifestyle and livability. They sought to increase social harmony and foster a pride in Australia and its values.

You know all those things the prog left fight against.

They sought to maintain ownership of assets like you claim to want bwian, to keep public assets and essential services in government control, yet you do so much to attack and lie about them bwian...? Tsk, tsk, tsk...
