The ABC needs to be gutted ... 1 billion of TAXPAYER DOLLARS used, for what? Because there are "no commercials"? Rubbish.
To run a world-leading television and radio organisation costs money - a lot of money. Commercials rarely bring in sufficient to cover the cost of a service like the ABC's. It is why commercial TV stations are going broke. Channel 10 got bought by CBS last year, in case you didn't notice it.
I don't watch the ABC. Never have. I have only just started watching the News on Sky in the last few months and about to stop, again. It is all the same crap. Talking Heads.
Each to their own, Neferti. You can go without the ABC, if you so desire. I like the ABC 'cause they provide me with a world class news and current affairs programmes. I refuse to watch commercial TV seeing it as a complete waste of time.

But Brian still expects you to pay for his little Marxist propaganda wankfest.

I don't watch commercial "free-to-air" TV either. I have Foxtel. Never watch so-called "current affairs" programs, especially not the biased ABC stuff. I read the News online on several different News sites, here and abroad. People who only watch "current affairs" on YOUR ABC have no idea. You want to watch ABC, you pay for it, most sensible people won't have a bar of YOUR ABC.

You're full of it, you spew hatred and bile towards anything or anybody you disagree with. You rail against them for daring to hold an opinion different to your own. You brand them a "troll" or wrose when they refuse to jump on your bandwagon. You scream obscenities at them when they refuse to accept your opinion. You get banned from forums all the time. I know of at least three you've been kicked out of, I'm sure if I looked I could find more. You're a WAFTM. Run along back to your little kiddies' playground.
Was that too difficult to understand? Did it use too many big words? Oh, dearie, dearie, me.
No, but the self deluded like yourself are seldom right about anything TROLL...

WAFTM... I have no idea what you are saying.... but I'm betting its an insult and a lie. :du :du :du :du :du

thanks again for proving me right about you.

bwian, bwian, bwian.... tsk, tsk, tsk.... always defending the indefensible and ridiculing others...

That's TROLL behaviour bwian.

IMO the ABC is an essential... GOVERNMENT service... as such it is accountable to the Government who are accountable to the people... the taxpayers who fund the service.

Unfortunately the ABC is becoming inordinately expensive and impossibly biased politically. It needs a broom put through it.

SBS should be sold off... and the ABC should start reporting news and current affairs impartially and factually. It should provide an essential service to and for the people of Australia. it should report without fear or favour it is not there to compete with the Commercial networks.

You obviously choose to watch LW biased rubbish bwian, because that is "world class news and current affairs" according to you. You gravitate towards LW progressive crap because that is what YOU are comfortable with that is why you watch and listen to it. if you don't watch anything else then you are exactly like the people you criticise for not watching the ABC. Hypocrite.... :du :du :du :du :du

Yet, the ABC is still the most trusted source for news and current affairs in Australia. Funny that, hey, Neferti? Most Australians turn to the ABC whenever there is a disaster or a political event. I am unsure why you feel the reporting of the truth is "biased", when in reality it is you who it seems is "biased" against the truth.

No they don't Brian unless they are over 90 and, even then, they have left the ABC in droves which is why it is far from #1. ABC radio came 5th out of 6 according to a poll on tv last night.

Evidence, BO, evidence. Without evidence, all we are reading is your opinion.

The Public Opinion Polls point to the ABC being the "most trusted news source" in Australia. Doesn't matter what people are watching or listening to on a daily basis, it is what their opinion of the ABC as an outlet that matters.

Tsk tsk A  "real intellectual" would question why is it that only leftists insist that the ABC has no bias, why there is no conservative hosts on the ABC and why is it that the ABCs criticism of both Lib and Lab governments is, without fail always a critique from left side of the spectrum?

A partisan Marxist hack, posing as an intellectual and a centrist would ignore the massive levels of bias, then reach into his trusty bag of obfuscation and pull out red herrings to toss around, such as self commissioned surveys of "trust" as an answer to a question that wasn't asked.... Dearie dearie me.
