Reinstating Abbot may (but also may not) just bring the conservative base back into the fold.
Their most likely front bench replacement for Turnbull is Morrison, previously touted as a potential future Lib leader.
But there's no genuine good reason why the leader or even the cabinet has to come from the current front bench.
Although I doubt they (the Libs) realise that yet. My perception is they are doomed.
