I think a lot are casual employees (often retired people) only employed for the election period, so no point hurrying too much.
I even contemplated putting my name down with AEC as I am a man of leisure, wouldnt pay much but would buy a holiday or something!
E Voting - Is it a feasible option

I think you might be surprised just how much the AEC "counters and others" are paid .... tax free, I think. I heard, years ago, that it was about $300 a day (it's a long day) ... although that person could have been telling porkies.Redneck wrote:I think a lot are casual employees (often retired people) only employed for the election period, so no point hurrying too much.

Make a few phone calls for the upcoming ACT Election .... as far as I recall there is a "list" of people who want the job so it has to be fairly lucrative or they wouldn't want to do it. It certainly isn't "volunteering".
