Well it is about Abbott really because without his ousting the by-election would not have happened and topics always digress otherwise they would be dead after a few posts or evolve into the same people saying the same things over and over, like most topics at OzPol.

I don't think the North Sydney by-election swing had anything to do with peoples' displeasure with Turnbull at all. Joe has been a very popular representative for the past 20 years and people are not only sad to see him go they are not impressed with Zimmerman being parachuted in. Maybe in the Federal election they may, or may not, take a stand against Turnbull but in the by-election they are thinking about who will best serve them and their community.
What did they think about a Gay man representing them? I imagine that the older citizens still have problems with that?
Stephen Ruff did really well because he has been tirelessly fighting to save the grounds of the Royal North Shore Hospital. I wouldn't be surprised if he won next time.
Malcolm must have been worried and to make sure, since Dr Ruff was listed number 11 on Zimmerman's HTV card. I would have probably voted for Dr Ruff.

The By-election is mostly about Hockey's decision... the question is about Abbott and his future... does he stay or does he go? Will he hang on and try again and give Credlin her old job back or will he leave politics altogether? Will he keep being an angry Ant or will he chill out and say nothing like he said he would?

Sorry I butted in.

I think that Tony Abbott is probably still pissed off .... BUT he is a person who has devoted much of his spare time to "doing good things". He will continue doing this.

He probably thinks he is "too young" to retire, so who knows what he will do. I doubt he will "resign" from the Liberals or Parliament. He has already written a book .....

Credlin is a non-entity.

Given the main reason he was dumped was his poor standing with voters he has no chance in the world of ever becoming leader again.
There is a huge difference between Abbott and Rudd, the voters liked Rudd, it was the Labor party caucus that hated him.
The public never liked Abbott even before he was elected PM, they tolerated him in an effort to get rid of Labor but once he was PM the public soon realised they had dumped a dysfunctional government for a dysfunctional government.
Swinging voters like Turnbull, which is all you need to win government.

I never liked Rudd, but then I'm not particularly attracted to narcissistic sociopaths. I also know his history, yet another reason no sane person would vote for him.
I'm also a swinging voter and I don't like Turnbull.
I will vote for the party with what I consider as a LW Conservative are the best policies for my country's future.
Abbott as I said has no chance of a comeback even people are tipping it and Credlin wants her job back. Credlin and Hockey were part of the problem... Abbott was too. Short of a miracle I see no way back for him into a leadership position.

People that decide to cast a vote at the next election, no matter who their 1,2,3,4 or even 5th choice may be, have to decide to preference a party led by Turnbull or a party led by Shorten above the other.
I hate throwing my vote away but I'm loath to preference one above the other. If I were to choose tonight I'd preference a Turnbull led party first. Come next election I may change my mind.

Mandatory preferential voting sucks and is not truly democratic

Haha, Roach, still pretending to be a swing voter

His thoughts are irrelevant, like those of his red head sweetheart.
