You can understand why his attendance at parliament isn't very good. He looks sick.

I think he's quite unwell, his pallor is poor... he looks pale and dry... if I were to guess...i'd say arterial blockage somewhere.. due to congestive heart failure.
He can't attend meetings if his hearts failing.
He lost a bit during the election, but appears to have put even more back on.

You would have to be reasonably fit to be a politician. Palmer has given it a go though, but his health would be a hindrance. He's probably not quite sure now how he will back out of his job. I can imagine he would also find it quite boring being a politician.

Take a look at him here in this pic.... with his distended abdomen.
I doubt it's just fat, am inclined to think it's fluid.
He's put it on too quick for it to be just fat.
I bet he struggles to lay flat in bed, rather feels more comfortable sleeping upright in a chair.
See how around his mouth is tinged blue... (and you can bet he's wearing makeup to try and disguise his poor health) he's cyanosed, the hearts failing to pump enough oxygenated blood around his body.
He needs to modify his lifestyle drastically or else he's finished.

He cant love his wife and kids too much, he's more focused on politics and making money than he is being around to watch them grow up.
Tragic!

If I were his wife, i'd be demanding he receive surgical treatment for his obesity.
The thing is, perhaps he's left it too late and due to his poor health (heart) is a surgical/anesthetic risk so they won't do it.
He should have had the gastric bypass years ago.
He refers to his gut as his business bulge... what he should be calling it is his widow/orphan-maker.
He can attempt to be as secretive about his health as much as he likes, but the truth of the matter is written all over his odemous face.

With all his wealth, he could afford the best of treatment for his health.

Exactly, so really, there's no excuse.
Greed and ego is whats getting in the way of him biting the bullet and getting that surgery + modifying his lifestyle.
He could retire and attend to his health and still have more than enough money to live comfortably on for the rest of his life.
No, our Clive enjoys the attention, gravitas and jetsetting lifestyle too much to be around for his kids.
Christ, and they're only littlies too.
His wife probably doesn't give a crap, it probably suits her he's away so much and will expire shortly.

His wife is quite attractive and probably a good few years younger than him - so it's a possibility that she doesn't care that much, otherwise she would have nagged him mercilessly until he lost weight. After seeing him on Kitchen Cabinet - it seems that he keeps himself so occupied with his various activities that he has little or no time for his family.
