It ain't. "Religion" has zero to do with the matter. I'm pretty sure if anyone in ACT has even half a brain they're hoping that your Federal government attempts to strike down their state level legislation in order to force the issue to your equivalent of the our US Supreme Court. It's only happening in the West with the help of the looney progressive left.

Re: ACT introduces Marriage Equality Bill
Good of you to admit that the idea churches would be forced to conduct gay marriages is a complete fabrication that you made up and is not an actual goal of any gay rights organizations in Australia. Thanks for wasting my time with an entirely pointless bit of dishonest bullshit that added nothing to the discussion or the thread, you wanker.Aussie wrote:That's pretty obvious. I gather you are not aware of Australian anti-discrimination legislation then?

Same in the UK. The yare planning to claim they are being discriminated against because some churches will not marry them. We are wait for the first case.IQS.RLOW wrote:I gather you are not aware of Australian anti-discrimination legislation then?
They have everything they ever wanted. Some of them want to push it too far.
The church already discriminates by choosing not to marry people of different faiths ...etc. Hell you could get married in a church at one time if you were divorced.

Re: ACT introduces Marriage Equality Bill
I hope they will legislate to protect the churches right to marry who they want.
Extract from BBC on UK.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18407568What are the basics of the plans?
The government proposes that couples who are the same sex can get married. However, the change will not be forced on religious organisations - they will have to "opt in" to holding ceremonies if they want to hold gay weddings. The bill specifies that the Church of England and Church in Wales would be banned in law from offering same-sex marriages.
Why are the Anglican Churches not included?
Ministers had already stated that legislation allowing same-sex marriages in England and Wales would not compel any religious organisation to conduct such marriages. Culture Secretary Maria Miller said the Church of England and the (Anglican) Church in Wales had stated their strong opposition to same-sex marriages. But they are not the only religious organisations to have done so. The legal ban may have the effect of protecting the Church of England from legal claims that as the Established Church it is bound to marry anyone who requests it.

Yeah, good luck to the group that tries to sue a church for refusing to do something against the tenets of that church's religion. Fuck, we haven't even been daft enough to find on the side of the plaintiff in a case like that. If that's the case, Dude, then Australia is at least an order of magnitude more fucked up than I thought.IQS.RLOW wrote:I gather you are not aware of Australian anti-discrimination legislation then?
