Yesterday I heard him skiting to Ray Hadley that he would immediately get rid of 12,000 useless public servants. How will those 12,000 workers feel after hearing that? The interview was immediately cut.
He also told the wealthy re superannuation "I'll let you keep your money". Very tempting - pity they only comprise 30% of voters, but Abbott's trying to appeal to those with influence. The remaining 70% without influence won't know what's hit them if he gets voted in. [snip] ....
Abbott has hardly said anything about "this government", as far as I am aware, he has been fairly quiet, letting "this government" dig their own grave.
A majority of the 12,000 useless public servants cited are NOT required .... Rudd/Gillard opened entire Departments and stacked them with these "useless public servants". Closing a couple of Departments/Agencies (the Climate Change one, for example) would see a huge drop in the public service. All good.
Many so-called public servants that would lose their jobs are "consultants" earning $120,000 plus. They will just move back to Sydney or wherever. House prices in Canberra will go down and those wanting to buy their first home will be happy. All good.
In any case, Abbott can't actually sack public servants. You can only be sacked it you murder someone or commit some other crime that sends you to Gaol. They will try to weed out the "useless ones" by offering a Redundancy Package. That is, they will get offered 2 weeks salary for each year of service, plus their Long Service Leave and accrued Holiday Pay. Sick Pay does accrue but you do not get paid for it when you leave.
The Public Service is chock full of dead wood ... most are just hanging around, waiting for a "package". The ATO takes their tax out of this "package" too. Forgotten what but maybe 15% tax? All good.
As far as Superannuation is concerned, this was set up (by the ALP if I recall) so that the average person would be forced to save for their own Retirement and not continue on expecting the younger generation to pay for them to be an Aged Pensioner. This is good too.
Do you really think there are only 30% of the population who considers themselves "wealthy". What is wealthy. Mantra?
