That's funded by the taxpayer too. They have floats and everything in the parade depicting just that

The thing is... we are all Australian, but we arn't all... well, anything.

For "anything", replace with hetro... Christian, white, atheist, male, British, black, communist, female, intersex... need I go on, you imbecile?

Fuck, the city spends dollars on, and is reorganised for all sorts of minority groups, from league fans around grand final day, to the country folk whenever the Royal Easter is on. Get the fuck over it, xenophobes.

It's disrespectful Boxy, and I feel the same way about mothers who indiscreetly breastfeed their infants in public areas.

Theres nothing wrong with gays celebrating their sexuality, not at all...and there's nothing wrong with woman breast feeding their off-spring either, even in public, so long as they do so in a respectful manner whereby they aren't discomforting or offending others, ... but I do draw the line at gays accessorising themselves with our military personnel to make a tacky political statement that's offended many Australians, both gay and hetero.

Not all gays approve of gay marriage and or our military marching at the Mardi Gras....so why call me a xenophobe, homophobe etc when my views have absolutely nothing to do with sexual or gender orientation rather are based on my belief that our Military shouldn't appear to endorse or selectively benefit groups or individuals, (be they gay or otherwise) nor provide a platform for a political message, or appear to be commercially sponsored in any way.

The thing is Boxy, when you are wearing a military uniform, you are serving and representing your nation, not your sexual orientation, or yourself as an individual.

You didn't start a thread about the military marching, you started it about spending $$$'s on a publicity stunt.

Par for the course, when it promotes their city internationally, is my response.

We went a little off topic, and you quoted text from a post where I was in fact discussing our defense force involvement in the Mardi Gras with another poster.

Please read more than the title of a thread before responding boxy.

No Boxy, I don't think you did, or else you would have not quoted text from a post which had nothing to do with the 'statement' you tried to make though failed.

You must be feeling a tad embarrassed right now.

:bgrin

It's ok.. go back and start again... cos you know, some people find it easier reading a book from the first page.

So if the Mormons wanted a few hundred grand to somehow promote the benefits of having a few wives on city streets, you'd be ok with that?

The only embarrassment I feel, is for you, because you still don't get it.

Oh yeah! Bike and tie sales will go through the roof...or does it only count when drugs, alcohol and condoms are involved?
