Yes, unfortunately still true here in the USA. People don't learn very much, very fast. And sometimes the mentality takes a turn backward. One should think we would progress steadily forward in all things, but we don't.

So what are you saying... all those who are black voted Obama, all those feeling guilty about slavery voted Obama, all those Liberals who wear black armbands voted Obama, all those who felt that a black guy should be given another chance voted Obama?

Could republicans putting guys like this onto the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology have anything to do with the problem?

I think you'll find people like that in the Dems too boxy.
The election was for President... as I stated in the opening argument...
The question is why Obama and not Romney.

Young earth creationist nutbags, who want (and are allowed) to influence science and technology policy, even though they wilfully disregard obvious scientific facts? Really?

It's almost like they want to destabilise the two things that can dig the US out of a hole... education and technology, by handicapping them so that they can stay true to books written by ancient goat herders.

I said like boxy. Not the same.
There are extremists and nutbags in every party and at the fringes.
I recall a Democrat Senator calling for Iran to be bombed.
I recall Democrats being anti-semitic.
Democrats spouting 9/11 conspiracy nonsense.
The Left dear comrade boxy is full of nutbags. Not that Democrats are that Left.
You cant honestly think the Republicans are all or even mostly flat-earthers or creationists... that just aint so.

Ummm, I'm sorry to say that here in the USA they really are mostly creationists.

The great majority of American Repubs are conservative evangelical Christians who believe Genesis in the Bible literally, and think the "heavens and the earth" are between 6,000 and 10,000 years old.

There would definitely be more Republican nutbags. The religious extremism over there is like something from the Dark Ages and if they could they would probably burn suspected witches at the stake.

A republican was mouthing off on local radio a couple of days ago that 47% of Obama's votes came from the blacks and the poor as if that was some sort of indication that these people were self serving. He said they didn't care about the future of the country. Perhaps those who are poor and/or black don't figure in the US's future?

Not that I know much about American history, but didn't the Republicans succeed the Federalists who were anti-abolitionists? If this is the case - it's no surprise that the African Americans have a deep seated dislike of the Republicans.

Rumour has it that Jeb Bush will be running at the next election.
