Even a slight shift to the libs in the ACT will send waves through the jelly that masquerades as the ALPs spine.

The ACT has been known as a bastion of the ALP faithful simply because the ACT voters know how incompetent Labor really is and their lazy days of spending time surfing the net and being paid $120k as a 'policy analyst', 'researcher' or 'media advisor' may come to end and the ALP and Greens just love selling that message to the ACT sheep...after all, it's not as if there is any opportunity for a lifelong ALP govt worker and supporter to move into self employment or a productive employment.

When the ACT walks a political tightrope in an election, you know that the ALP are on the nose. Thanks to the Greens, the ALP can then go to an election not promising the worst that their party offers in policy because they know that they will have to do backroom deals with the Greens who have similar but even worse policies.

It has a lot to do with the stupid Hare Clark system too. Have been watching the ABC News24 and that Virginia Haussthingy is such a lefty and very annoying.

Anyway, the Greens look like they may have lost 2 seats. The Canberra Times was way off with the Poll and sportsbet or whatever might have lost money. Canberra is a Labor stronghold so what do you expect? The Libs have done well anyhow but even if they win 8 seats that is not enough to form a Government unless an Independent wins a seat and joins them. Ah well. We won't know the final result for probably another week or so!

Labor will get back in with GREENS backing. :hot
I think it's just a sign of the times, both major parties suck, otherwise one of them would have won.

This is the ACT skip
Labor didn't win outright and that show severe disenfranchising especially in a leftwing enclave like the ACT.

I see your Greens are particularly on the nose
Can't wait for the fed election.

The GALP are gonna be trounced

The results show the exact opposite, Skip. The Greens and independents were the ones who lost votes. Both major parties saw an increase.

Skip, they are still counting and the Greens haven't actually won a seat, yet! With the Hare Clarke system it works on quotas. Both the Liberal Leader and the Labor Leader have more than 1.0 quota each so they have retained their seats. There are a couple of others with 0.7-0.9 quota so they should be OK. The quota over 1.0 goes to another of the same party in that Electorate. At the moment the highest Greens only have 0.4 and they have to get to 1.0 before they are elected. This is where preferences come into it. Very confusing and I have trouble with it and I have lived here ever since the ACT became self governing.

Have a read of Antony Green's Blog (he is only speculating) and have a look at the OFFICIAL AEC site .... and look under the 3 Electorates (Brindabella, Ginninderra and Molonglo) at each Party and see how each person is going .... thus far.

The ACT Election is nothing like elsewhere (except Tassie). In any event, both Labor and the Greens have lost votes. The Libs have gained popularity and in Canberra that is HUGE. When I came here I was told that only about 6% voted Liberal and at he next Federal Election I checked and the Libs got about 7% in Canberra. This is a Leftard city.

That tells me that most people are still sheeple and vote for the major parties, yet neither of them are stand out popular, that's why it is like it is at a federal level, neck and neck. Because neither are considered good. If they were one of them would have won.
