What a bunch of right whingers! So it's OK to denigrate and slander the primeminister with foul sexist comments - but no-one can say anything about Abbott - a dodgy character regardless of the squeaky clean public persona he tries so hard to project.

TONY Abbott has broken his first big promise, once more parading his admirable physique - but again in his not-so-classy budgie smugglers.

Abbott was first reminded of the fate of former NSW Liberal leader Peter Debnam when he was snapped in his briefs at Queenscliff in November, later going on radio to say his wife had forbidden him to do so again.

But he took his repeat offence one step further yesterday, by being photographed in his sluggos more than 1km from the beach while walking on a public road.

I would say that's because Abbott doesn't really give a shit when he is competing and wears what gives him the best advantage. There's a reason speedos have been worn by swimming competitors for years.

Everyone would prefer to wear boardies but if you have a competitive streak, you never would because it's about performance not about looks...unless you are a shallow lefty who is distracted by a near naked body instead of the time on the clock.

No need for the personal insults Rorschach. Attack the content - not the poster. There is little difference in both major parties, but while the vitriol continues to be spat out at Gillard - a few of Abbott's flaws can be highlighted also. Take it on the chin.

It was at Palm Beach or Whale Beach I think? Both relaxed beach communities and pretty common to see people walking around in swimwear (bikinis, boardies or speedos)

If it was in the inner city or miles from the water I would agree it was inappropriate but the locality of the picture needs to be viewed in context

If Abbott chooses to wear speedos a good 1 km from the beach on a public road - then he needs to wear double lycra with reinforcement, otherwise he may as well not bother wearing anything at all.

If anybody should be embarrassed it is them, not you or others seeing them. They don't look embarrassed to me. Look at their faces if looking at their speedos sends you into a tizz.
