Personally, if I was a voter (which I'm not) I wouldn't cast a ballot for either, as both have played the religion card, and I find pollies who lean on religion to be the most untrustworthy of them all.

The only player I have seen play the religion card was Krudd with his Sunday morning doorstops.

Remember when John Howard's cabinet minister of health, Tony Abbot, got all the female Libs off side, for banning the abortion pill - RU486, on the grounds he was a Catholic?
The fact he trained for the priesthood doesn't go in his favour either .. well not with me anyway.

Don't know if he's leadership material, but I think Joe Hockey has far better charisma.

I'm not one for noble causes or political correctness ... many many years ago, I obtained an application for party membership of some now obscure West OZ pollie's (forget name) party titled 'Australians against further immigration'. Didn't wind up submitting it though.

Y'see I'm not for picking and choosing who should or shouldn't be allowed to move here, I'm for the complete abolition of immigration altogether. I've seen 1st hand what over crowding and culture clashes leads to.

The fierce debate over RU486 and Howard's subsequent decision to allow a conscience vote on the issue, which could result in the ban being lifted, has spectacularly backfired on Abbott, exposing his devious tactics. The devout Catholic minister, who appears to take a devilish glee in doing what he thinks is God's work, has been left looking rather foolish. And it is impossible to believe him when he argues that he is denying women access to RU486 out of concern for their health.

Allowing entry to those that have demonstrably proven they are a drain on society such as labors boat people are much much worse that any controlled immigration program where we can choose the skills needed to advance our society.

So far the Green and labor are prepared to flood us with no hopers who are proven to be on benefits for years after paying ten of thousands of dollars to people smugglers under the auspices of being 'humane'
