I remember interest rates increased in 2005. Was that the year the RBA went crazy or was that in 2006? I forget. Forget wealth creation and prosperity, any country with the inflation levels of the past few years would head towards a frightening meltdown. It could have been kept under control and life would have been alot easier today if both governments stopped trying to be popular with the money-hungry middle class.

We could have had Universities the envy of the world! Students from all socio-economic strata! Instead we had cash-strapped Unies taking full-fee-paying Asian students and, not willing to slaughter the goose that laid the golden egg, never failed any! Needed the fees! So standards started slipping!

Yes the coalition sure knew how to blow money on pork barrelling. The multi millionaires who invested their property portfolios and cash in the Howard/Costello tax free super scheme established especially for the mega wealthy have lost out big time. The whinging about it now would be laughable if it all wasn't so sad.

But Celetina has a point - we would have so much more in infrastructure and social services now if it wasn't for Howard's vote buying and Rudd's inability to establish stricter means testing. All that money - gone - like a puff of smoke.

I think that's what ultimately fucked people off. Pigheads surrounding themselves by another bunch of pigheads and blowing smoke up each other's ass. KRUD was right they were out of touch. Anybody involved with communties would have been able to gauge the difficulties that alot of people are facing.

The Universities and any other institution that helped with science, arts and culture suffered due to howard's disrespect to these vital establishments.
