Hundreds of crims deported to Nauru

Post by Black Orchid » Sat Aug 30, 2025 5:52 pm

Hundreds of foreign-born criminals on Australian streets will be deported to Nauru after Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke signed a $400m deal with Pacific nation Nauru.

On Friday afternoon, Mr Burke issued a statement that he had met with Nauru President David Adeang and his Cabinet to sign a memorandum of understanding that Nauru would take members of the NZYQ cohort.

NZYQ refers to 350 foreign-born criminals who were released from detention after a High Court ruling in November 2023 found that indefinite detention of non-citizens was unconstitutional unless there was a plan to remove them from the country.

The group includes convicted murderers and pedophiles who refused to be deported to their country of origin.

One of the cases was the brutal bashing of Ninette Simons in Perth that left the 73-year-old grandmother’s face bloody and bruised. The assailants robbed Mrs Simons and her husband of $200,000 worth of possessions. One of her alleged attackers, Majid Jamshidi Doukoshkan, was part of a cohort released in 2023.

In a short statement Mr Burke’s office confirmed the group would be sent to Nauru.

“Anyone who doesn’t have a valid visa should leave the country,” he said.

It's a start, following the previous screw-up. They're learning.

I suppose, but Australians aren't inclined to forget, much less forgive anytime soon for their intentional screw-up.

I personally find it difficult to believe that something like this could happen by accidental oversight.

Government mistakenly dumps hundreds of criminals in our nations largest cities, yet will forensically detect even the most tiniest of errors in out tax returns, right down to the last decimal point.

Seems like a the burden of accountability isn't even.

Not even close, and Aussies have had enough.
