Andrew Hastie Petition

Post by Black Orchid » Mon Aug 31, 2020 2:47 pm

The next decade will be among the most challenging Australia has ever faced.

The coronavirus pandemic has exposed the true cost of relying too heavily on an authoritarian regime like China for our economic security and prosperity.

Although few will admit it, the Chinese Communist Party seeks to reshape the global order and Australia’s position in it through foreign interference, ownership of strategic assets and influence operations.

Australian institutions, universities, and assets are now contested; our sovereignty and independence will be diminished if we don’t continue to push back.

This is a generational challenge. To safeguard Australia’s future, it’s essential that we are united as a nation with the resolve to take action.

We must ensure Australia is in a strong position to guarantee its security, prosperity and our ability to manufacture essential goods.

That’s why I need you to add your voice today in support of Australia’s sovereignty in the struggle against authoritarian regimes.

Thank you for your concern and support on this critical issue.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Hastie

Last year I was criticised for calling out the Chinese Communist Party’s authoritarian regime, and for outlining some of the things the West must do in response to their activity. As a consequence I was banned from visiting China by the regime. I stand by every word.

Do you know about TikTok? I’ve spoken on national media about the dangers of this Chinese social media company for our children. The ADF has already banned TikTok on work devices. We should each consider our own position and that of our children.

And in February I spoke out in Parliament As history and now current events show us, it is vital that we have a strong manufacturing base both in peace and in times of crisis.

Mumble grumble grrr ...
Signed up .. gave 'em all my details .. but no petition.
Don't know what I did wrong ... unless it was ticking the box 'Don't send me emails' ... ?

Anyway, I've been rather impressed with his performance .. or what I've read about it.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?
