The first senior Labor figure to stand up is not Bill Shorten but Anthony Albanese, who is likely to become Labor's leader after the opposition leader's disastrous result says tonight is disappointing.
He admits he was hoping that he'd be able to declare a Labor government tonight. In terms of the campaign Labor has run, he says the opposition did run a redistribution agenda with its pledges to close tax loopholes on negative gearing and franking credits.
"Bill Shorten is the leader and our entire team have worked incredibly hard over recent times,
I have never put myself before the Labor party as a whole and as part of that team I accept we must accept collectively, responsibility that the many people who rely on us tonight will be disappointed that the outcome is uncertain,

Re: What happened Bill
Even Labor faithful unimpressed with Bill's no-show
It's been an awfully long time since the election was called against Labor and yet Bill Shorten is still to officially concede.
It reminds me of 2016 when a very sulky Malcolm Turnbull took an eternity to make his speech.
Meanwhile at Labor's election night party, the mood is worsening.

Re: What happened Bill
Bill Shorten had six years to prepare for victory and he failed miserably. And there is a clear reason why it all fell apart.

Well done Scott!
They were blaming The Polls .... like we have always said, the ONLY Poll that counts is the one on Election Day!
